Spent two days here and the weather (for Hong Kong) was perfect. Even so it is quite difficult to get optimum quality shots as the aircraft are quite far away and the atmosphere is very hazy. We had to get a local water taxi to an island called Sha Lo Wan and walk up a hill to a spot overlooking runway 07R/25L. Luckily for us they used the 07s for landing which meant we got some landing shots and nearly everything that taxied out !
Here is a selection of shots from those two days.
These are all landing on 07R (most landed on 07L and even the most of the cargo landed on 07L which was a slight disappointment…
The rest of my photos are ground shots and I will share those in due course.

Hong Kong gets some real variety and exotic movements. Some shots are not fantastic due to heat haze but they are acceptable. Hong Kong is difficult to get optimum quality shots !
Missed the 4.20pm ferry for this – had to wait over an hour for another one…
Just the tip of the iceberg this lot….

Very nice pics Culpano, I never did get such nice weather visiting Hong Kong in the past, both your recent location and the old Kai Tak. I am very interested in your water taxi ride to Sha Lo Wan island to obtain your superb pics, a small request, do you have a map of exactly where you were in relation to the airport?.
I am intrigued also of the bulge on the forward lower fuselage of the MasKargo A330 by the nose wheel, do all A330’s have this certain bulge, I haven’t noticed this before on that particular type, again, thanks for posting:)

Cheers folks. The cargo stuff taxiing out taxied on the near taxiway so the shots were better. So here are some of the cargo movements….
One of the highlights of the trip for me and dedicated to local HK spotter Ronak Dhadda who phoned up for an early water taxi to Sha Lo Wan. You have to be able to speak Cantonese to get a private water taxi and the regular Fortune ferry only starts at 9.30am. This taxied out at about 8.30am…
Finally a decent shot of this after poor shots at Nagoya and Seoul in 2010…
This was my very first shot of the trip…
How lucky were we to get this. It was due out at 8.15pm and departed 6 hours early !!!
Cargo heaven and we missed Qatar Cargo by 5 mins as we walked to the spot and other stuff such as Aerologic 777s.
