Anyone else who remembers this brilliant mathmetician, biologist, writer and broadcaster will be interested in a programme about him and his work for the War Dept for Harris and others, newly revealed by his saugfhter, Lisa Jardine, followed by a showing of one of his iconic Ascent of Man series. I wonder if they are repeating the entire series – they were unmissable and did for science what Kenneth Clarke’s great series did for art.

I’ll second that.
This was a series made by grown ups for viewing by grown ups. The sort of thing that the BBC used to do so well. But alas, not any more.

I would love to see ‘Ascent of Man’ again – wonder if it would stand the test of time?
