Saint Petersburg Pulkovo, 13AUG

This will be the last thread from my Russia trip. My website will have one or two more updates, but those are for general aviation, not commercial aviation.

We had about an hour or so to watch planes, which we did from inside the domestic terminal (landside) near the Burger King. Later we found out there is a small outdoors terrace overlooking the domestic platform, but due to our schedule I was unable to take a look there.

The days of Soviet era aviation are definately numbered. The only Russian built planes we saw where several Antonov 148s and a single military Tu-204 that did an overshoot. Our flight into Pulkovo was done with a boring Aeroflot A319. Speakign of Soviet aviation, the terminal reminded me of Berlin Schoneveld, which ain’t much of a compliment. Lots of concrete, it’s really not an inviting place. A new terminal is under construction, and it looks more western with plenty of glass and steel.

As ever, some great pics. I think that the Rossiya livery still looks like something from the cold war era, but I like it;)
