Surprising Southend

Just had a very rewarding day at London Southend Airport, however I thought I would first post a couple of Swedish ATRs in the sunshine of last week first.

SE-MDC arriving from Helsnkifor maintenance, wearing a Transavia style coloured band..

With sister ship SE-MDI in Blue 1 livery departing an hour and a half later:

Now back to reality and today, however today was quite remarkable even by Southend standards. First, a Yamal Airlines A320 departing an airtest:

Next an arrival which turned up 2am in the morning, an OLT Express A319 parked on stand. I assumed it had been repossessed, as OLT had continued flying, claiming it was in good financial health, despite the regional arm, operating ATRs going bust. A nice livery on the Airbus, which was incidently delivered all white from SEN earlier this year, Former easyjet G-EZIG:

Soon after the Yamal A320 returned, as I tried out a rather nice new spot:

A further arrival soon followed from Lasham, a Variglog Boeing 737-400F, arriving for further maintenance and painting for Europe Airpost.

Just as the Variglog taxied in, there was another surprise, the OLT Express A319 called for start up under an OLT Express callsign. Inccredibly strange, and soon after it departed to Sofia, perhaps the final flight for OLT Express!

So all in all quite an eventful day at Southend, I hope these are of interest.

Saw what looked like a 727 disappearing into the clouds today, after having
just taken off from Southend today, at about 12:30pm.

Anyone have any more info please ?

Thanks Culpano. It’s from a new spot which I’ve also taken a liking to over the last couple of days. Been like a mini Manchester today with all the Jet2 movements!

I like the vantage point for the last shot. Excellent.

Thanks EGTC and markyharky, been very strange with the maintenance movements, there’s been more in the last couple of days than the month before hand. Got a bit more today, albeit withe less variety, as I missed an Icelandair Crago 757.

Arriving from Glasgow for minor maintenance, the first Jet2 737-800 to visit:

And G-LSAN coming back from Norwich, also in the Jet2 Holidays scheme.
