Shows how fragile and fleeting a person’s life is…

Excellent pics! They remind a little of the painting, that was discussed here a while ago, of an old airfield building with a broken window and a scene from WWII shown in the hole and the same field ‘today’

The problem is I only have a fixed focal length lens camera.
Yes that would help for sure, though of course the original pics would have been taken with a fixed focal lens, just a case of trying to find out which size!

Hence the appeal of After the Battle magazine which adds the story behind the pics as well.

Too true. I have taken many pictures of Biggin and you get the correct position and then when you look at the two pics together they are different. The problem is I only have a fixed focal length lens camera. I must invest in one with a zoom.

Hey, these are good pictures. They had to be taken from EXACTLY the same spot for them to work.
Not only the same spot, but also the same angle, same distance away, and pretty much the same focal length of lens etc, it’s very involved trying to get then and now pics, tried it various airfields with varying degrees of success.

Hey, these are good pictures. They had to be taken from EXACTLY the same spot for them to work. Perhaps I should look again at how I produce my photos on my website www.bigginhill-history.co.uk.
Thanks for the original post Moggy C

Not only does Sergeys work and imagination demonstrate an impressive skill, but also provides a thought provoking scene, famtastic work.

Thought-provoking stuff. Reminds me of that extremely poignant moment at the end of the final “Blackadder” when the picture of the trench dissolves into a peaceful latter day green field with birds singing.

These are amazing Moggy, Kind of haunting too. When I see a old building I always think what it has been through these photos show these thoughts in many ways.
