I was sat in the arm chair on my own at a gasterly hour on Sunday when I was playing with my CRP-1 and I had just got it, I can now FULLY use the danm thing, I had worked out how to do thew lot, the next day I got out my chart and started doing flight plans and found out how much easier they were now. Im going for my Nav exam and flying to gloucester on sunday so wish me luck.
You better run nav exam.

Robert
Have you got the called “The PPL Confuser” ? if not then I seriously consider you getting it, it is invaluable for someone struggling a tad with a few exams.
If you have got it then all I can do is re-itterate what Moggy has said and that is try and take your time, you can take your time and speed through it (I know its a contradiction) but make sure you read, understand and absorb the question being asked, I was lucky enough to pass all my PPL exams first time around and with scores of over 90% but the odd question i did get wrong was because I read it too fast and marked down the wrong answer, then when the examiner went back over the ones i got wrong I knew the answer was not the one I put ( you get the picture).
Anyway, order a copy of the Confuser right away if you havent got it,

Robert.
“I can understand that you’re a bit upset about this and I am speaking primarily as a layman, but I would have thought that the examiner needs to be confident in his/her own mind that you understand the principles and methodology as well as getting the right answers. I am not suggesting that you guessed the answer, but getting the answer right is only half the battle I would think, as if the answer doesn’t look right, I suggest you need to understand the workings first to see where you went wrong and therefore be able to correct it. I’m not trying to patronise you on this, but surely the examiner is somewhat more experienced and knows what he/she is doing?”
As another layman I would expect the same. When training to be a nurse it was not enough to be able to give an answer to any calculation for drug or IV dosages, you had to be able to demonstrate how and why you came to that answer. I’m sure if you persevere and keep practicing as you are all will come right in the end. After all, you’ve got this far.

The problem I have is that I only have 1hr 30mins, most people say you really have to work through the Nav quickly, I finished 2mins late but nobody came in to get me and I came out on my own accord.
Im sorry Moggy but im not rushing on purpose, I need to hurry to finish the danm thing. Sunday will not result in failure as im even taking time off lessons to get this right. (Which I have already done!)
Im revising 24-7, today I have already done three hours I plan to do another two later.
I passed, he had no right to change anything, it is his error not my error, im not be snotty to you or the others but I was very tempted to report the issue pleading my pass to the CAA.

Otherwise I assume the CAA wouldn’t allow them to be one in the first place. I am open to be told by the more learned forum members that I am wrong and will therefore wind my neck in! Just hang in there and I am sure it will sort itself. Reminds me of my grammar school days in the 70s trying to work out log tables…………….. aaaaggghhhhhh!!!!!! 🙂 🙂

I fear, as you have demonstrated here on a couple of occasions, you tend to read very fast and not always accurately.
SLOW DOWN!
Take your time, read what is on the page, not what you think is on the page.

I guess this is what your instructors are trying to teach you by failing you. Scanning a NOTAM instead of reading it carefully could cost you and others dear once you have qualified. (And you will qualify if you would just take your time, read and absorb the question and then answer it)
Good luck

Ok im actually fuming here, I got 76% and when we went over all the possible answers and checked the ones I had got wrong, he asked me to explain how I had got something correct, about crosswind limits, when I tried to explain it he said thats wrong, god knows how you got the correct answer and deducted a mark giving me a fail at 72%.
Next Sunday will be my third attempt and im doing three hours an night on the bast*** subject, I got the answers correct why should I have to sit and suffer 1hr, 30mins due to the fact he was feeling like a prat??? 😡
He is not my usual instructor and im being subjected to flying with him next sunday aswell.
If this happens again im moving F/B/O’S.
Your views,

I fear Richards Magnetic Chip detectors did not pick up the large dose of Irony your post emitted – visions of the next flight staring at the Garmin 90% of the time !!!! 😮
As my name is Robert I guess there must be another ritchard who has made a post about something you dont agree with. 😎

Richard!
Please read my post again, carefully.
Consider the possible use of irony within it.
Then consider if you wish to edit your post before others read it 🙂

Navigation, mmmmm, thats the thing where you glance to the left if the trim wheel in a Cessna 172 at the Skymap III and it tells you everything you need to know :p
Oh for heavens sake!!!
Don’t just glance at it. Keep your eye’s glued to it at all times. Don’t let irrelevant things happening outside the cockpit distract you from the vital gizmos.
