Hi all.
I know we have a few members from my area so I thought I would post about this event I am taking part in.
On the 2nd of May a series of walks varying from 4.2 miles to 23 miles will take part around the Brough area of East Yorkshire. The sponsord walks aim to raise money for Dove House Hospice, a very worthy cause.
For information about Dove House and how to take part please see here – https://www.dovehouse.org.uk/SSLPage.aspx?pid=421
I will be taking part in the 23 mile. Any sponsorship, a penny, a pound, would be very much appreciated. Donations can be made direct to Dove House here – http://www.dovehouse.org.uk/benhacker ( no money will pass through my hands/account)
Thank you for looking and any support.
Ben

Wish I could mate, if it wasn’t for a thai woman who didn’t know the rules of the road i’d still be able to hike and ride a bike. Hey ho.

I dont think there is always a direct link between age and maturity mate 🙂

You must be mad young man,but I’ll certainly sponsor you again.
Thanks so much for the invitation to join you,but a) I’m a pensioner and b) my right knee just hasn’t been the same since I actually injured it a couple of years ago changing the sheets on my daughter’s bed,of all things.
It’s wonderful that you’re prepared to give so much time and effort to a good cause.

Mate I’ve had my knees and ankles taken apart too many times to do walking or biking anymore… 🙁

Hi all
Dont worry, i`m not asking for cash again:rolleyes::)
So 23 miles just about did me in. It took me a couple of days to recover, but I was still out `making some shapes`:D in Ibiza not long after. What can I do to realy bu…r my self up.
I have now recieved my paper work for the next step. Its the Yorkshire Wolds again but this time its 30 miles:eek::) http://www.suerydercare.org/events.php/566/yorkshire_wolds_challenge_walk
This time it will be for Sue Ryder Care another worthy cause.
I am pretty worried about this one. My knees are going to be taking a battering so I am working with a trainer at the local leisure centre to build up some muscle to hold them together and also take a bit of weight off them:rolleyes:
I think I have said before, my ultimate goal is Ben nevis for Macmillan but I think I might do a couple of other things before then. Best just get this one out of the way first.
If anybody wants to take part in any of the events (and I`m looking at you Blue2) let me know.

Eight hours solid walking makes me feel tired just thinking of it.
Well done, you’re a star.
By: Blue_2 - 2nd May 2010 at 22:13
Mad fool. Well done!:D:D
Ps put in a word for you today, will pm in the week
By: benyboy - 2nd May 2010 at 20:41
Just about pulled myself together now.
So I did it, just. It took eight hours and I was the last one to hobble in. Knees are pretty busted up and my feet are in bits:(. I am in real trouble with the GF who says I should not have done it and if I am not walking right by the time we go on holiday on Tuesday, she is going without me.:D
Was a good day overall with some beautifull scenery I did not even know was right there on my door step. Not to mention hills, lots of them !
So this distance looks to be about my limit….. but that 30 mile Wolds Way in a couple of months sure looks tempting.
Camera has being playing up all day but here is (as promised:rolleyes:) a blurry pic of me wrecked and pretty much stuck on the floor of the last check point.
