Single seat microlights with a total weight of under 300kg are soon to be deregulated as such they are in the U.S.A, this means one may fly a microlight without a medical or a licence.
FLights will have to be conducted in uncontrolled airspace.
R/T licence will not be required as you will not need one or be required to have one.
Flight will be permitted in VFR and will be restiricted nation-wide.
TRAINING WILL STILL BE REQUIRED FOR THE LEVEL’S OF SAFETY.
A understanding of Aviation law and the nav order will be a must.
This will be coming into effect within the next 6months.
Keep updated witht the BMAA for further information.

A political correct country, yes I could agree with that then again I find it more of a dictatership than for ones freedom of will and motives. Microlights don’t need to be regulated, take a look at the yanks, they are doing just fine.
Oh for I agree training needs to be provided but what we need to do is make the sport easier for people to get into.
Then again what do I know the CAA knows everything.

Isnt it the amount of deaths and injuries that resulted in the sport being regulated in the first place.
I wonder how long it will be before the CAA regulate the whole sport again seeing as we are in this terribly PC country.

They have always had to since the creation of the microlight PPL.
I know that, you know that, but an awful lot of Microlight drivers currently flying out there seem to have forgotten…..

getting people into flying should not just be for the wealthy few.
I’m not wealthy and most of my friends are not either. Trouble is today that so many people want everything for nothing. I wanted to fly so gave up holidays abroad, drinking, smoking and unnecessary luxuries – result is I can engage in my passion for flying – simple really and I do have a life!:D

Bringing freedom to the skies is what avaition should be about, we need to be more relaxed like the yanks. De-regulating is a good thing and getting people into flying should not just be for the wealthy few.

A understanding of Aviation law and the nav order will be a must.
Does that mean that microlight pilots who fly now will have to learn it as well?
