Where is my heating allowance. I am treating my self to a couple of hours of the electric heater each day, and already worried what the bill is going to be like.

Nice to see another elderly Snow Patrol fan.

What does age have to do with our taste in music? I love Nightwish, Evanescence and some of Rob Lowe’s music and I’m definitely over 60 (physically but on about eleven mentally I think.):D

Reason why I asked that i’ve work with district heating business and in here, a vast majority of all non-single family houses in any urban areas are heated with district heating. So I’m just generally interessed hows the matter is done in UK

So none of you don’t use it on actual heating? How do you BTW heat your appartments and houses in UK genrally? Each house has own boiler for oil or do guys have district heating there?

We, “guys”, heat our houses mainly individually by electrity or oil or gas or solid fuel. Many houses are centrally heated, many are not. Many centrally heated houses have solid fuel fires to augment the radiated heat. “District heating” also exists and blocks of flats aren often heated from a single boiler.

We can use the £250 however we want, a bit like our government uses our petrol taxes to add to the pool of tax rather than specifically on roads or public transportation.

Honestly, young people these days know nothing.
The winter fuel payment is £250 if someone in the house is over 60.Since Mr. Bee and I are both over 60 ( chiz curses ) we get £125 each.
The £10 is the Christmas bonus paid to all pensioners and has stayed the same amount since it was introduced in the days when it could actually buy a bit more than the latest Snow Patrol CD ( which is where mine went ).
It hasn’t been cold enough for me to get an extra cold weather payment since I’ve been a pensioner.

Yup, same here, Bumblebee.

I haven’t heard it, but wouldn’t be at all surprised.

Is the £10 automatic now?
I though it had to be at less than 2 deg C for 5 consecutive working days?

(It had to be working days btw, as the people registering the temperature didn’t do weekends)

I’ve already spent my £10 Christmas bonus on riotous living.

You shouldn’t spend it all at once!:diablo:

‘fraid it’s true. If you get a pension you get a lump of money regardless of how flush you actually are. Some really need, some don’t. I give mine to a charity.

The UK government gives us old folk a little something each winter to make up a bit for the minuscule state pension.
