Flying from DSA..

Just received this report from the DSA spotters group..

Hi group,
First I must say well done to most of the contributors to this group,
excellent reports, logs ect.
Now unfortunately I must say that DSA as airports go is a total shambles!!!!
It should become our local airport living near Lincoln, but it’s a disaster
and I would
warn anybody off using it just yet.
Its the first time I have had to have my picture taken to separate domestic
passengers from
overseas passengers! ERRR the flights out went to Rhodes, Paris, When it
eventually left!!! and some where else certainly not domestic.
Big Brother in DSA or what!
The local airline, well they made DSA almost look good, pity the air con was
down, or perhaps never up yet!
Thomsonfly (never on time) great check in staff on arrival after that it was
rubbish utter rubbish! they knew our flight would be late,
well it had been for 12 days out of the previous 14 ( To CDG) but no
announcements till it was blatantly obvious that as there were no planes on
the pan at
our departure time that there would be a delay, well by then as 4 spotters
waiting to go, it struck us as obvious, but not Thomsonfly.
Then we had just the same coming back, obvious it was late, no announcement,
another passenger rung DSA from CDG and discovered that the plane
had not even left when we should have been boarding, Thomsonfly could not
even manage that, Airline Not even funny.
When we eventually arrive back at stupid o’clock in the morning, all stands
empty, so park us as far away from the
excuse for an immigration hall as possible, If it had been raining like it
had earlier that night we would have been soaked!!!!
Then one jobsworth on immigration, looked at every passport, scanned every
passport, then looked again, half an hour
to get to the luggage carrousel. I think DSA paid him extra to slow us down
so that the luggage was at least there.
Well if you need any more persuading that IT IS A Shambles, the airport, the
airline, well pretences for them any way!!
Nice group, alright for a quick visit for 10 mins spotting at the right time
but don’t actually use it Try NEMA, MAN, LBA,
LTN STN NOT DSA
rant over, you can see we were impressed!!!!!!!!!!

Just got back from Benidorm and used Thomsonfly Alicante from DSA.
From what I read on here I regretted I opted for DSA but when I got there I couldn’t be more wrong. Spotlessly clean, good meals, friendly staff.
DSA looks the part, it’s got that certain feel about it.
As for being a shambles, no way, I think there are some very worried people out there who are wanting to discredit DSA, maybe a touch of jealousy even.
Alas though, I won’t be using DSA for a while. One can only stretch disloyalty so far.

The Long Hauls where bad but as you say; the Short Haul’s may have made up for it.

They must have made it up on the short haul operation, or maybe it wasnt as bad as you thought.

Hi,

I was saying the flight was a one off to Acapulco. However, them figures seem peculiar with all the A330 delays they had as well as the problems FCA had with the 767s.

Yeah ‘one offs’. As I said in the other thread, all airlines have big delays, its what happenes every year, as you can see above, overall they did well.

Hi,

Do you not remember all Cooks’ frequented delays with those A330s? I especially remember a particular one off charter to Acapulco being severely delayed.

As a follow up to my last post; yesterday 2 x Thomsonfly a/c went sick so Titan 733, Germania 73G and Air Berlin 738 called in. Interesting that CAA stats show Britannia having the best on-time performance of the IT carriers; doesn’t say much for the rest?

Despatch reliability of 737s at DSA appears poor to say the least; there’s a different a/c type being subchartered almost every other day. They’ve had BY 757s, Astraeus 737/757s, Hola 757 then 737, Titan 757, Eirjet A320..the list goes on..

Ah, i’d take no notice of this, Thomsonfly and DSA are bound to have teething troubles, as far as I can see, Thomsonflys punctuality into BOH (The only airport they operate into listed on Ceefax!), is excellent. A brand new airport is always going to have teething troubles, and jobsworths.

I’d gladly use DSA, and thats coming from someone local to LBA, so thats not easy to say! 😀
