Bonfire Night thugs were blamed yesterday for the horrific death of a devoted mother.
Mary Fox pushed her teenage son through a window to safety as a blaze tore through their house.
But she was overcome by smoke and flames before Last night, neighbours said the blaze was started by a firework, dropped through Mrs Fox’s letterbox by a gang who had bullied her son because of his mild learning difficulties.
It set fire to the hallway, trapping Mrs Fox, 59, and 17-year-old Raum upstairs.
The tragedy on Thursday recalls the case of Fiona Pilkington, who killed herself and her daughter Francecca, 18, after ten years of torment from a gang of local youths.
Francecca also suffered from learning disabilities.

do they not have a ******* ounce of a brain in them?!
This is the worrying thing… They do have a brain, it’s just that their brain seems to be wired in a slightly different way. These actions are not mindless, as much as some people may think they are I personally don’t really believe that’s the case. To put a firework through someone’s letterbox a person has to go through a process of thought; they know what the consequences may be and they know the firework will probably start a fire, they also know people are inside the house so from that it can only be assumed they have the full intent to harm those inside.
I’m no psychologist, but it seems these people are capable of certain thought processes but not others; they know what the consequences of their actions are likely to be but lack the reason to see why their actions are wrong. Many serial killers and murderers have been highly intelligent individuals, but something’s still missing. I don’t know whether it’s their ‘fault’ as such; whether their thoughts and behaviour were influenced by factors outside their control or whether some people are just simply born evil. Either way, I’m very glad this sad incident seems to be getting treat as a murder case.

Similar thing happened here in Scotland last week, a mother trying to extract her son from an unruly mob rampaging around their neighbourhood was stabbed to death…

According to the latest news bulletin (Times online), the Police are indeed treating it as a murder inquiry.

This is a horrific example of just how stupid people can be. I have absolutely no idea how one human being can do things like this to another, it’s almost like something in their brain is wired backwards. I just don’t get it.
Let’s hope those responsible for putting the firework through the letterbox are caught and charged (presumably with murder).
