More Passenger Traffic at Southend

A couple of nice days weather wise has been conducive for a few nice shots at London Southend.

As always, although not for much longer, an Aer Arann ATR42 to start. It was announced last week that from the 25th March Aer Arann will be practically ceasing to operate flights under its own brand, instead assuming the identity of Aer Lingus Regional for all flights.

So here’s perhaps a final shot of EI-BYO before it turns green!

Next up is the Ford departures in great light early this morning. Unfortunately both Jet2 and Germania ops sent the same aircraft as last week!

The Germania requested Runway 06, presumably for performance reasons with fewer obstacles in the climbout for the ‘longhaul’ eastbound…

Passing the church..

And making good use of the new turning circle at the end:

And departing.

Thanks for all your comments. The Cafe in the old terminal has been granted a stay of execution for the time being for the time being.

It is a shame to see the end of Ford Air. The 146 which was painted in their corporate colors is still sat idly on the North side of the airfield, having not flown since the demise of Flightline.

These charters must be costing Ford a fortune, with the overnighting of crews, positioning flights (including a very long one back to the operators respective base airports after having operated the outbound).

Some nice pics there, I’ve always liked the Germania livery. I can remember the Fordair fleet when it was based at STN, BAC 1-11s and Gulfstream 1s. Makes more economic sense these days I guess, to outsource the aircraft and crews.

I remember them too. Followed by the MD-87s (or 88s?) and the 737/BBJ’s plus the odd US registered Gulfstream dropping in

Nice pictures, I don’t get there in the mornings as much as I used to.
Are they keeping the cafe in the old terminal open for the time being ?
