So, any of you ever write songs?
This is a song I just wrote tonight:
Don’t Worry
Built up in your mind
Are always things you want to hide
Fear: just takes over you
And, then you don’t know what to doThink about it right
Don’t let it stay
Just let it go
Right awaySo don’t worry, don’t worry
Everything is gonna be fine
I say, don’t worry, don’t worry
Just take control of your mind
Just be yourself, be who you are
And never change for anyone
Don’t worry, don’t worry
And welcome to your lifeThe sun is shining in the sky
Music is playing in my mind
On a new road to destiny
Perfection is here for meKeep it in your mind
Never forget
And always rememberDon’t worry, don’t worry
Everything is gonna be fine
I say, don’t worry, don’t worry
Just take control of your mind
Just be yourself, be who you are
And never change for anyone
Don’t worry, don’t worry
And welcome to your lifeThis is who I am
This is what I like,
Somehow I have realised
That this is me, until the end of timeDon’t worry, don’t worry
You can come out of your hide
Don’t worry, don’t worry
Listen to what is inside
Just be yourself, be who you are
And never change for anyone
Don’t worry, don’t worry
This is your life.

Beatles remastered 2009
Keeping a music thread alive……
If you like the Beatles you will enjoy this Box set. IMO they have done a great job. The punch of the bass and the sharpness of the treble is stunning. The sensible (a) stereo separation makes it even better in the earphones.
(a) Not a complete separation, as some remastered records have done.

Hi. I have a song that is recorded but I am cr** at writing lyrics. I wrote and recorded it some years ago but since then it has just been sitting there. Are you up for the challenge?
I’ve even got the video for youtube for it planned out.

I mainly compose classical music. I recently finished a passacaglia (google it) for pipe organ, and am currently working on a toccata.

Wrote this song today, it’s called everything changes:
Life can be confusing in so many little ways
Our stories can change almost every single day
I have to think hard about things I want to say
Because, if you’re like me, you’ll have to pay
We can think that we are always right
We always think were not losing sight
We forget what is important to us all
Which is the thing that makes us fall
I just don’t know what to think about this all
I want to make sure that I’m never ever small
I don’t know how people can think that it’s ok
Because everything changes, that’s what I say
Stories can be made up, lied or true
Some people will try to just hurt you
Only try to trust the people who don’t lie
Those are the friends you have until you die
We can always think that it’s good to be fake
And expect the end to be the usual heartache
We can always try to cover up what is in our mind
And make who we really are impossible to find
I just don’t know what to think about this all
I want to make sure that I’m never ever small
I don’t know how people can think that it’s ok
Because everything changes, that’s what I say
Everything changes, yeah.

Jazz certainly helps temper the temper in my case. 🙂
With a glass or two of Shiraz

Check?
Do you mean you write the best Jazz stuff when angry….or Jazz helps temper the temper? Latter I presume.

I’ve written songs since I was little, here’s one of my unfinished songs from a while back…
(Verse One)
Stall your smile for a moment
The air is thin up here
Nothing’s quite as we wanted
We’re fighting with fear…
(Chorus A)
Head for war, head for pain
We could score, we could gain
another life, another day
For when we die, we’re born again
(Verse Two)
Drive your heart on the road
We’re facing battle grounds
We will fight, but stay down low
Who predicts how this will go?…
(Chorus B)
Head for war, head for pain
We will dry off from the rain
We will live another day
For when we die, we’re born again
(Verse Three)
Once we’re there, I promise
everything will be alright
Once we’re there, I promise
you’ll look back and smile
Don’t be afraid of the strain
As tomorrow’s another day
We shall battle, we will win
So our new life can begin…
(Chorus A)
Head for war, head for pain
We could score, we could gain
another life, another day
For when we die, we’re born again
(Chorus B)
Head for war, head for pain
We will dry off from the rain
We will live another day
For when we die, we’re born again
(This song isn’t approving war btw!)
Regards,
Matt.

whenever angry…resort to jazz! 😀
I am personally banned from adding lyrics to the sessions i do with other musicians. 🙁

Music is part of a human’s psychy. It has all sorts of affects on our mood and behaviour.
A bit of Chike or even Straussy will send me to sleep. Obvious (For me) the progressive Trance gives enough rhythm to do chores or just listen to the sounds. I often do my MS Excel work with Tiesto on the MP3. Not my reading stuff, that needs some thought.
Decent british rock, like the Who, puts me in a mood where anger is needed, like before a sporting event (Taking part not watching!). If one creates the anger, gets the heart rate up to 145, it’s easy to control and channel.
American (So called) Rock is generally “Big Hair” rubbish. Early to 1975 ish Alice Cooper was OK though.
My personal fave lyricists are Lennon, Morrisey, Smokey Robinson..loads more actually but htese spring to mind.
……and yes, I realise Morrisey lyrics are full of angst but they have style and intellect. Cold Play is miserably written misery.

I just don’t know how to write the music :/
Lyrics of mine always tend to be sad :

Theres no greater feeling than feeding off a crowds energy while you are on stage…. and viz-e-versa.
Damned right! There is no other feeling like it anywhere. 🙂

I just saw Pearl Jam in London last week…. if one could channel the energy created by Pearl Jam that night at the 02 you would be able to light up the tower bridge for like a week. 😀

P.S. Are you around the APH on Tuesday evening by any chance, Mr Casey? 🙂
It could probably be arranged. 😉
Give me a ring on Tuesday morning to remind me!

“Gloomy Sunday” look like “Ode To Joy”.
I was thinking more ‘Ode To Billie Joe’, as that was about suicide and generally quite a depressing story!
I have to say, interesting as some of these lyrics are and as much as I understand music is an emotional outlet (very much for me as well), but surely there has to be a balance to it? Surely you write lyrics when you’re happy as well? If you don’t, you should! Music is about joy as much as it is anything else and it should be enjoyed. Some of the most enjoyable times I’ve ever had in my life have been while performing and it’s a wonderful thing to do, so come on, let’s see some happiness to balance out the negativity!

Are any of these lyrics set to a musical arrangement ? I’m sensing some major/minor chords here…:D:(
Oh, at the very least.
With a couple of diminished fifths thrown in for good measure, too.
Some of the lyrics in this thread make “Gloomy Sunday” look like “Ode To Joy”. 😎
