It could be cheaper to pay the carer than to keep them in prison. Come to think of it, I once read that it was cheaper to stay in the Ritz than it is to keep someone in prison – for the same amount of time.

Perhaps a full-time carer would require less payment per 24 hours than a 24 hour period behind bars???

Mind you, I guess the Germans were right about one thing – it’s cheaper to just shoot them – (this is meant as a morbid joke only)

They wont be able to re-a-fend

Maybe not, and they also won’t be able to do anything else either, including feed themselves. Who’s going to pay for the carers to feed them, etc?

I don’t think people who immediately shout ‘cut their hands off’ have really thought it through all that well.

They wont be able to re-a-fend, and it deters crime in the near future.

If it deterred crime then the punishment would never need to be applied, would it?

Doesn’t quite work like that, though.

What’s that going to achieve? They’re not smart enough to understand what they’ve done is wrong so cutting their hands off isn’t going to do any good.

😀 😀 😀 LMAO 😀

Hear hear!!!

Of course, many would argue about how that would infringe on their “basic human rights” – not me though. I really don’t like human rights protesters very much at times like this.

What about our rights and the rights of those poor blighters who’s names have been removed? That’s what I want to know.

Chop their theiving hands off 😀 😀 😀 LOL 😀

My village is a small pit village in County Durham. My home is directly opposite the village war memorial. The memorial has recently been revamped with a local first world war VC winner at the centre (a relation no less). Anyhow the decorative heavy chains surrounding the memorial have been ripped from the mounting points(most likely in an attempt to weigh them in).
Also just over a month ago at a roundabout a mile from me is a statue of a life size pit pony with its cart behind as a reminder of those brave little ponies who worked so hard down the pits. Some thugs kicked it to pieces and left it beyond repair.
A sign of the times that makes you sick.

Quite! It’s unbelievable just what lows these brain-dead good-for-nothing-but-wasting-our-oxygen scum will gladly, and seemingly also proudly, lower themselves to.

What’s more, all too many of them are far too willing to claim that they do these things simply out of boredom – and not one of them knows what REAL boredom is. It’s simply the fact that they won’t get off their backsides and find something decent to do.

Despicable Scum.

I hope they’re planning to put up CCTV in the area – otherwise what is to stop the replacement plaques going missing?

Ladies and Gentlemen, some good news, not been recovered but will be replaced )

The good news doesn’t unpick the problem…but at least the memorial will be restored.

I kind of feel sorry for the individuals who carry out such acts of mindless vandalism – what sort of sad, pathetic, good-for-nothing, wasters-of-good-oxygen they must be.

Unfortunately, it’s not a problem that will be even slightly dealt with, never mind stopped completely – especially with the modern trend of “kids-having-kids” (as Jeremy Kyle likes to put it). I don’t think I’ll ever have kids 😀 😀 😀 Too much hassle 😀 😀 😀

That said, I would like to have a daughter one day – kind of like the whole walking her down the isle concept 😀 😀 😀 (and I think I’m going to stop there!) 😀 😀 😀

I sit here fuming in pointless anger.

There will be costs associated with putting this right.

Is there anywhere we can donate?

The scumbags should not win.

Moggy

It’s not pointless, it’s right and proper to be angry. If you caught such people in the act, it would be excusable to hit them on the head until their teeth met steel.
Let’s not forget the other scum that need catching, the scum that melted the plaques down.

Members may not be aware that exactly the same thing happened to the Royal Naval Memorial on Plymouth Hoe last year. Four large bronze slabs containing the names of the fallen were forced off part of the lower memorial. The first one with the names of Royal Marines killed in WWII was stolen a few hours after a Veterans Day event, and the other three were taken the following night.

They were eventually recovered but two were damaged beyond repair, one having been cut into four pieces and sold to a scrap dealer for £172. The other three, all damaged when levered off the wall, were sold to a scrap dealer in Somerset who luckily smelled a rat and called the police. The cost of restoring the memorial amounted to £17,000 and was compled a few months ago.

The despicable low life who carried out the crime was eventually brought to court for ‘handling’ stolen goods. It transpired that he was also charged with a more serious sexual assault offence. He was found guilty of all charges and was jailed indefinitely. Are his ‘mates’ still around though?
