Tools used in the aviation trade

While browsing through the Draper catalogue the other day a thought occurred. Yes I know what you are thinking yes it was painful. However I was thinking about all the tools that the RAF need and use and about all the aviation companys that need tools for engineers etc etc and indeed what tools are used down at the local airfield to keep the beast flying.

Does anyone know who makes the tools for the RAF ie Snap On, Taskmaster, Britool or is there no such branding but a company makes them specifically for the RAF.

What tools do you use or do you work for a company who uses a particular brand.

Or more importantly do you have to supply your own.

Companies choose the cheapest! :dev2:

In my experience Snap-On tend to be the favourite.

Absolutey NOT!
Draper, or any other cheap Chinese garbage would not be allowed in my Aircraft factory nor near any aeroplane.
I’m not naming, but our tools are American made, (1) sometimes Brazillian (As they are the only country/place outside Sheffield that have truly mastered the art of making Stainless Steel actually stainless (To the 22 chemicals under MoD testing)

(1) There are no quality British tools anymore. Sad, but true. The British names just pack them, the kit is made in China, and it’s rubbish. Use once is fine, then bin it.

Hi Matt

Im not looking to buy tools but am more interested in the brands and whether any companys or the RAF support any one paticular brand.

I remember during my army training that we not allowed to run in boots but rather trainers until the boots were well worn in but most running was done in trainers to be fair. Anyhow the brand that the army were using at the time was Hitec.
