Hi all
Im hoping someone can help here, im looking at aircraft engineering at university and im hoping if i get the grades im predicted i can go straight in and do my masters.
Now ive got a list of all universities offering aerospace related course and there are quite a few, from aeronautical engineering to air transport management. Now i think im going to go for either aeronautical engineering or aerospace engineering aircraft engineering.
Now ive looked at the description of all three courses and they all say the same sort of thing but i still don’t know what one would be relevant for me.
Im hoping to go into the aircraft industry in the design sector, designing various parts for aero engines and aircraft. Which course would be better for me or are they all the same just with different titles?
Also can anyone tell me from experience the best universities for aircraft /aeronautical engineering are, im having a good look at Southampton and Brunel but there so many to choose from.
Hopefully someone can help a wee bit from an aircraft engineering perspective
Cheers

Im still unsure i think the route i will take will be aerospace/aeronautical enginnering and then hopefuly go on to work with someone such as RR in the design field
Hopefuly this is the right path?
Cheers

I did a Masters of Mechanical Engineering at Uni with the goal of entering the aerospace sector. Good job I did, as aeronautical engineering jobs are pretty thin on the ground these days (I know from experience).
At least with my Mechanical degree I can go in to a whole lot of other stuff; oil/gas/design/renewables/automotive. So……don’t rule that path out 😉

Effectively they are all the same. Remember, primarily you’ll be studying engineering; mathematics, mechanics and thermofluids so I hope these are your strong subjects.
Find out what the entry requirements are; that should give you an idea as to which university is most sought after.
Yes, ive noticed different universities ask for different grades so i can get a general idea of how good/bad they are.
Im doing 18 unit national diploma in mechanical engineering (well 19 units as ive asked to do further mechanical principles as well as further maths to open up more opportunities) and most universities are asking for distinction, distinction, merit or distinction, distinction, distinction for there masters courses.
Ive noticed a few do pilot studies as well so i mite be able to do my PPl along with the course
We can.
I have.
And thanks!
