LELYSTAD – The ex KLM Boeing 747 that was transported in parts to Lelystad late last year will be opened to the public next friday. The plane has been reassembled the last few months, and prepared for the visiting pulic. Secretary of State (one rank below that of a minister) Melanie Schultz Van Haegen from the ministry of traffic and public works will attend the opening.
Schultz Van Haegen will give a signal at 11.00 CET, after which the jumbo will be baptised either by a cropduster or a helicopter.
From that moment on the 747 will be open for public. Parts normally not open for travellers will also be open. For instance the cargo bay and the cockpit. The opening marks the finale in a long operation to find the funds and make the actual move.
This is the third museum 747 to go open to public in Europe. The other two can be found in Speyer Germany (ex LH) and Le Bourget France (ex AF). There’s also a 747 at Seattle but I am not sure that is open for public.
Other planes in the collection of the Aviodrome include the last flying DC-2 as well as one of only 3 remaining flying Constellations. Older pax planes include a Fokker F.II (replica), a Fokker F.VII, a DC-4 and two DC-3. More modern planes include the first serial production F27 (ex Aer Lingus) and the first protoype of the F50.

T5, is that a museum onboard a 747 or is it part of a museum?
I’m not sure if it is a museum inside the aircraft? It seemed to be advertised as one at the show.

Sounds like fun, would be nice to climb aboard and see what it has to offer.
Here’s the tail of the Air France museum, as seen at the Paris Air Show. The queue to get on was rather large at all times.
