Tax Return Online- They won't send a PIN!

Anyone else having a problem with this? I registered for a PIN 2 weeks ago, and nothing has come in the post. Deadline is 5 days away, and then you become liable for a £100 fine for delayed submission. 😡

Is the HMRC system overloaded/broken down?

Government departments are all the same they love telling you you owe them money/are wrong or both but when they are wrong or owe you money they fight tooth and claw to avoid admitting it. When they do admit they owe you money(very seldom) they are in no hurry to pay it but if you owe even 1p they make your life a misery. They never seem to realise that even sending the letter costs them more than you owe and the cheepest otion would be to write off the debt.

When you eventually get through to the Help-line, they are “Usually” pretty good at sorting stuff. Have you tried the line?

Or, as the other post says, they may have you purposely trapped. It’s a Government after all.

Got my first self assessment 9 years ago. Got married in May, company car in July, Son arrived in Nov. Three big changes, I blipped on the radar. Next year, of course I owed them. Took 8 years of self assessments before we were all square. One year (after 6 years on) they took me off, then sent me a letter saying did I owe them?

I asked to go back on, next year they owed me £500 – they took me off yet again.

first rate ***** of an organisation – I suggest you send them a letter recorded delivery saying you have no PIN, at least to argue with when the hot you with the fine.

They won’t send you a pin until your tax return is overdue so thaat they can fine, the government is short of money you know. Maybe so but I don’t see our overpaid politicians volunteering to take a pay cut.
