It’s been a long wait, but the first sunny day at Schiphol to fall in a weekend has finally arrived. Here’s some photos!
First a few shots at Schiphol Oost.
Trying something new. The line-up point to 18L. The photo on the runway turned out very nice. The ones on the taxiway however where just too far away and got heathazed. So every photo is pretty much from the same angle.
Moving to the Zwanenbugrbaan.
And the polderbaan.

How difficult is it to get to any of the spots around Schiphol without a car?
Approach runway 06/24 Kaagbaan can be done by busline 187, 188, 191 and 198. Approach to 18L/36R Aalsmeerderbaan with busline 188, 191 and 198 but only for the western side so from mid to late afternoon onwards. For the eastern side you need busline 187 or 194 (194 does not call at Schiphol center).
Schiphol Oost’s biz jet apron is accesible by a shedload of busses. All these busses pass by the Mac Donalds spot at runway 09/27 Buitenveldertbaan. The views over 09/27 are poor since you’ll be facing the sun. But if runway 18L is in use for take-offs you can walk from the Mac Donalds to the line-up point where the photos above where taken.
When you take busline 300 (“Zuidtangent express service”) to the stop at Vijfhuizen you’ll be half an hours walk away from the start of the Polderbaan (west side). There’s a bicycle path running paralel to the Polderbaan for rougly two-thirds the length of the runway.
At Schiphol center itself you can walk to the taxiway nestled between the cargo apron and the commuter apron. Walk a bit further still and you´ve got (limited) views over the cargo apron as well as a full view over the Kaagbaan at the touchdown point. The runway faces the sun most of the day. The cargo apron can yield really good shots but without a small ladder you´re options will be limited.
There are more details at my website.
Don’t forget the check out the aviation store at Aalsmeerderbrug! It’s really huge. Busline 188 and 198.

I love the livery on that C172! How smart.

Hi Peter,
How difficult is it to get to any of the spots around Schiphol without a car? When I was there before, I only went on the Panorama Terrace, but I am thinking of coming back for a few days next summer. Thanks, Drew.

Nice to see you post some photos again Peter, and what great photos they are.
What was the Canadian private B737 in for?

Great shots, Peter, but don’t rush the summer away – it’s still only August! 😉
