Good point my uncles a teacher and hes hand writing is awful. so’s my GP and all my teachers from when i was at secondary school. But mines a pig too let alone spelling :p

That remark reminds me of what one of my English teachers said about my handwriting. His remark was that it looked as though I dipped a spider in the ink and left it to crawl across the page, thankfully my writing style has improved since then and is now something close to readable.:D

Has anyone ever looked at the children’s networking site ‘Bebo’?

It’s enough to make your eyes bleed.

Moggy

I saw my kids Bebo and i needed a blood transfusion.

The point here is the simple fact that it is manners, politeness, courtesy, call it what you will, to at least make some effort to write correctly. With spell checking systems so readily available there is no excuse for not, at the very least, trying to get things right. What gripes me is the fact that it is a result of laziness that many now make no effort at all. …

Good points, Kev.

What really gripes me is that some people actually seem proud of their laziness.

thankyou Arthur,
It was only a bit of fun, there is No Need to get personal, Just because my English isnt up to your scratch , doesnt mean I am a total Brainless Moron, If i was for one ,i would NOT take a great interest in the forum, or other enginneering subjects,I would be sat at home every night watching Football, and Big Bruvver and then swilling 20 pints, and having a fight, I feel Quite insulted at your remarks, on what is only a but of fun, its allways times like these that Old Fossils come out of the woodwork 😡

, i know a Man at work who has Many degrees in Mathematics, and Science, and yet he is ten times worse than me at spelling, I only wish we all were all as Literate as you are. 😉

Awesome answer …. really cracked me up!!! :LOLANI: I’ve witness some English kids speak the worst (if you can call it english) English ever!!! Ask them to say ‘later’ or ‘better’ and you’ll start rollin on the floor, laughin your head off.

Btw, good find on the reading research!!

Spelling

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5- year phase-in plan that would become known as ‘Euro-English’.

Once this collaborative process has been initiated, the United Nations will tell the United States that all residents of North America are required to fully accept the new “Euro-English” and prohibit any academic correspondence in any other language. This will be enforced international law established under the Law of the Sea Treaty.

In the first year, ‘s’ will replace the soft ‘c’. Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy.

The hard ‘c’ will be dropped in favour of ‘k’. This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter.

There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome ‘ph’ will be replaced with ‘f’. This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible.

Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling.

Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent ‘e’ in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.

By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing ‘th’ with ‘z’ and ‘w’ with ‘v’.

During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary ‘o’ kan be dropd from vords kontaining ‘ou’ and after ziz fifz yer , ve vil hav a reil sensi bl riten styl.

Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi TU understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.

Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas.

If zis mad you smil, pas on to oza pepl.

Even better: not only is it possible to read poorly written texts, it is also very helpful in making a judgement on the writer’s intelligence and education 😀

Oh, and it’s not just 55 people who can read that drivel. Maybe 55 were stupid enough to think it’s worth forwarding. Anyone who has even rather basic reading abilities, can read mingled words like that.

Yes. So ?
Spelling is also a form of being correct towards others.

Ans except for this (pretty amazing) demonstration, note that someone writing that way would see its post(s) zapped… :dev2:
