Somewhere a little different, Furtventura!

Hey all,

Just about got some time to edit my photos and do a little report on my holiday to Furtventura. First of all lets start off with the traffic. If you have a holiday booked or fancy shooting from somewhere a little different this has to be one of the randomist airport from the caneria’s. At FUE its more quality rather than quantity, For example, instead of the TCX short haul stuff, They bring A330s whats a little better to shoot ;). Alot of charter airlines i saw have there own days, Monday/Tuesday seemed to be German, Wednesday was British 🙁 Thursday seemed to be a little bit of everything, Friday the scandic’s came, Saturday also abit of everything and by far the busiest day and Sunday they was sod all  . Now onto the spots. 3 spots i found here …

Spot 1

Spot 1 is for a afternoon/evening only. When the light finally swings around about 2/3pm then you can shoot from here, the only thing wrong with being at this spot is your too far under the aircraft. As FUE is set at a bottom of a rather big hill, the aircraft come down the hill pritty low and land half way down the runway, you will see what i mean by the photo below …

Easyjet serve a few routes into FUE now, only in a evening what i could see though, Anyway a newish EZY in the bag, one for you Robo :diablo:

Spot 2

What can i say about this spot, if im honest it was great to have such a spot from my bedroom. My Balcony of my hotel looked onto the approach for RWY01, i had to use my 75-300mm from here, at a distance of nearly 3 miles from the airport the aircraft came over incredibly low. Every now and then i got photos of a few beauty’s busting me from behind …

Nice shots, well done.

Went there in 2000, the place reminded me of the moon pictures with blue sky 🙂

Is there any GA there at all, I only remember the International Airport and two settlements on the whole island, Corralejo up top, full of Brits and Moro Jabel down the bottom, full of Germans.

Great place to explore if you hire a Jeep though. 🙂

Nice series and good spotting info. The ATR and kreuzfahrten 737 entering the runway are the highlights for me. This last one also has a great reflection of the wing in the fuselage.

Only five flights a week with Spanair 🙁

I really do like this airport for the traffic it receives, I missed all the good stuff due to flying on a Saturday but i really did enjoy my time here. The spots are abit of a challenge but that only adds fun into the hobby. My flight home picked a delay due to G-SUEW going tech and being replaced by G-NIKO A321, only 8 hours late home though :dev2:

Hope you enjoyed this report from me, bearing in mind i have written this at 1am in the morning so don’t pick on my faults 😉 The next booked trip for me is Geneva 😀

Spot3

For this spot, i had to hire a bike out. It took me from my hotel a good 20mins to get there due to a nice climb uphill. This spot on a bike was really hard to get too, they is a dried out riverbed next to it, walking across it seemed to be a little wet, so be careful if you do go anywhere near it. The spanish spotters know how to create a spot, with a few wires bent in the fence  The spot though is so close, for line up shots it beats Lanzarote hands down, for arrivals its a little rubbish with aircraft high above making there way in. Anyhow on with the photos …

Just to show how close the spot is, i made my own spotting location shot 🙂
