Fair comment Moggy,but my gel saddle cost 10 quid from eb@y so quite affordable.
Most modern saddles have a central fore and aft groove/dip to remove pressure points from perineum/assteroids etc,indeed some are in effect 2 piece with a central gap between both sides.
I have never understood the idea of having an uncomfortable saddle,some of the american mtb saddles look really comfy 🙂
