Re the topic…..I imagine the hot thin air of OZ contributed to the machine needing all but the last 10mm of runway?
Also, has anybody seen the C5 Galaxy refueling 10 mins after take off? Very clever. A large jet uses up to 20% of its fuel on it’s take-off and initial climb. So, fill up with 20% too little fuel, use that weight for real goods (Therefore maintaining MTOW) and then refuel once airborne. Does carrying 20% more cargo affect the landing characteristics etc. I imagine it must do??
