Yves Saint Laurent, the French fashion designer who created a bold new dress code for women during the feminist revolution of the 1970s and helped launch the era of the celebrity designer with his jet-set lifestyle, died Sunday at 71.

They had to place him face down in the casket so his friends would recognise him

Can’t drive down Carnaby Street anymore,it’s been “pedestrianised”.The place is full of commercial establishments serving food or shops where you can get a “hoodie”.Lambretta,to give it it’s due, tries to serve up a little style but is way too casual for my liking.
The only original shop left is Sherrys in Ganton Street,a little gold mine for “Mod”.
The Face, also a great shop for “Mod”,started on Beak Street and moved into Carnaby for a couple of years, but has since closed.
Lonsdale’s,the sports shop, also in Beak Street has long gone.
Top Boy,on Carnaby Street, was a cracking shop for original shirts, but has sadly gone (If anyone knows where, please let me know).
Today it’s just full of tourists.A far cry from it’s heyday.
It’s a shame..but as they say..nothing stays the same
