ANZAC Day today 25th April

“Today, in 1915, the first allied troops began landing on the Gallipoli Peninsula.

We pay tribute to those of all nations, on the land, at sea and in the air, who fought and died at Gallipoli and whose memory lives on.”

In memory of my dear Father, Pte Thomas Stanley Hawkey, 3rd Bn AIF, who was wounded at Lone Pine 9th August 1915, and spared to be wounded again twice more in France, and who lived on to be 90 years of age when he died in Cornwall, the land of his birth.
