Did you ever see that super turbo charged one? It was covered in one of the boy racer mags.
The nearside (Left) headlight was removed and the hole was used as an extra air-intake.
Mad!

I bet he hates fueling the thing ! I knew someone with one and he was happy with early teens in the MPG stakes 😮 Who can live with that fuel economy nowadays ????

thanks for the posts, reason his insurance is so expensive is personal and due to marital problems etc the spouse having used their combined NCB ,sohes got to start again from scratch, the car is amazing ,performance par exellence with comesurate build quality, all wheel steerind and an interior trim quality equal to any exotic sportscar you could name,
But its still ugly as sin and very “Yesterday”

A Turbo-nutter-witch I used to work with had a Skyline. Her insurance was a little over £1,200. At £6k your colleague must be a high risk case, which means he is young and/or many points….which further means that innocents are at risk when he is on the road in one of those monsters. IMHO.
Anecdotally, the silly name of Skyline comes from the Skyline racetrack, in Oz.

It amazes me why someone would want to spend that amount of money on insurance let alone buying the car itself.
The monthly re-payments alone are more than my mortgage!!, kinda puts it in perspective, and like Moggy says you could get your PPL and lots of flying time for that price.
I know what I would rather do.
John.
Sorry but I might have veered off topic!, personally I would love to spank a Skyline around a track, a mental car with an almost unlimited choice for modification and tuning.
Thing is though I only see it as a track car and not for the road, our roads are not in any condition for it’s suspension which would be nothing but spine shattering and the local/national and international constabulary would be all over your backside as soon as you give it some.
Give me a big, lazy cruiser with lots of gadgets any day.
Regards,
John.

If you can afford 6000 a year for insurance, my guess is that you could probably afford something better than a Skyline.

Well six grand a year would get you a PPL and plenty of flying over the years to come.
