Patrick Swayze close to death

Dirty Dancing star Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and might have just weeks to live, a representative for the actor has confirmed

The National Enquirer exclusively reported Swayze was diagnosed in late January, and the cancer has spread to other parts of his body.

A representative confirmed the report to the New York Post.

Patrick, 55, has been travelling to Stanford University’s cancer centre with his wife Lisa Niemi for chemotherapy treatments, the Enquirer reported.

An insider said: “He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short – they held out little hope for a cure.

“It’s time to start praying for a miracle.”

The actor, who made a name for himself in Dirty Dancing and has also starred in Ghost, Point Break and Donnie Darko, is on a liquid diet as he can’t keep solids down.

A “very good source” reportedly told celebrity blogger Perez Hilton that Swayze had seemed fine while rehearsing for his latest movie.

“Patrick has been at rehearsals for a new cheerleading movie at Century City studio frequently lately, and he definitely does not look like he has five more weeks of life left.

“I’m not sure of his medical condition(s), but if he is gravely ill, he is hiding it very well,” the source said.

Sufferers of pancreatic cancer typically have a survival rate of less than five per cent.

You always come up with the bad news Steve, my missus will be mortified, she loves him, I’ll have to sit her down and tell her this when she comes home for lunch in a couple of hours.
Poor bloke, how old is he, we’re currently having concerns about father-in- law with regard to this, we are waiting the results of further tests, but if as you all say, the effects of this are pretty rapid, well, he’s been ill for a while so pancreatic cancer looks unlikely.
Bad news for some may turn into good news for others, lets keep our fingers crossed for both of them.

Pancreatic Cancer is one of the forms of cancer that is still often diagnosed far too late to allow a good outcome.

My Mother-in-Law went from diagnosis to death in about two or three weeks, prior to the symptoms (jaundice) that led to the diagnosis she had shown no obvious signs at all πŸ™ . Surgeons did an exploratory op within a week or so of her seeing her GP but found her condition was already inoperable. She died a few days later.

Hope Mr Swayze has a better prognosis.

His doctor has confirmed that he has cancer…but they disagreed with the NE’s pessimistic prognosis.
His statement said… β€œAll of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.”

I’ve haven’t seen his films, but I wish him well in this fight.

BTW: He’s a pilot with a Beech and I believe he used to own a twin Cessna.
