This forum Log in…does it time-out?

I log in to the forum, I read around, I select to post to a thread. I type, then post.
I then get asked to log in again.
When I do log in, my post has indeed been posted so there is no issue of losing all my typing.
But it’s very annoying this double log in.
Is this normal?

First of all make sure the “remember me” feature is selected. Next line of thinking is that you have a duff cookie. Click from the IE menu Tools>Internet Options>Delete Cookies. From there it is conceivable that you have somehow managed to have your browser not accept cookies from this site, in which case it will be worth having a delve into the IE security settings.

Pete, it is not the fault of us or Key that you are having a problem, but more likely a tech issue with your PC doing something unusual in the way it interacts with the vbulletin software Key uses. Not to mention countless other sites.

Could be so, Outlook Express has gone mental and trying to sort that out has been a problem, the voices in Bombay claim to have sorted out a virus.

Who’s idea is this, it’s doing my head in, I thought I’d been banned at first, life should be made simple, not all this log in cr#p, trying to post a reply on here has been made very difficult, can you please knock it on the head, wer’re not all sleeping terrorists, thank you.
I’ve made over 1500 postings and never been banned, I don’t think I should have to go through this rubbish, thank you very much, do something about it.

I’m using the PC version of Firefox and I’m not having this problem, if that helps at all.

Seems OK on the Linux version, too.

Hmm, but why is it OK on my other 11 forums?

If you can try Firefox, its a free download and works for me, but that is the Mac-OS-X version so I dont know whether it will solve your problem………but it might be worth a try.

XP pro
IE7

I used to get similar problems when I had a garbage ISP, because “Inactivity” meant they put your bandwidth to an “Actual” user. I thought this could be happening here, maybe not.
I belong to about 12 forums for various reasons, but this one is the only one which times out.

What operating systems and web browsers do you use? I use Mac OS-X and when using Safari I have the same problems you mention. On the other hand, when I use Firefox it always remembers me.

Home XP, IE, permanently logged in in ”Favourites’ immediate access with no time outs. Works for me (unless I’m in an internet cafe!).

Yes, there’s definitely some sort of automatic “inactivity” logout – and it doesn’t seem to count replying to a thread as activity – presumably because there’s no interaction while you sit there composing your thoughts and typing and editing them. But I don’t know how long the duration is.
