Big Garden Birdwatch this weekend.

Right you lot, get on the RSPB site and get your forms ready, it’s that time of the year again.
Forunately my laptop is positioned on the dining room table looking directly out of the patio doors on to the garden and bird table.
We take a few rudimentary sightings then try to base our findings on the period when the rarities arrive.
In our case, we’re waiting for our little Nuthatch, but we have’nt seen him yet, which is worrying, so is the dissapearance of our lovely Thrush with it’s unusual white bum, he waits for the bird table to be topped up every morning, but hasn’t been seen for several days, I hope the local pykie scum youths with their air rifles have’nt got him, they’re a problem round here, strange how they can’t be found when the armed police raid the ‘travellers’ sites.
The Goldfinches are gathering at the moment, as are the Blackbirds, but where’s our pal, Mr Thrush.
Actually, there seems to be a problem here, 3 Robins are fighting for territory and are keeping everything away at the moment, lets see how this scenario evolves over the weekend.
Lots of birdsong but no visible birds.
Any one up for it, he said hopefully.

Yes, Robins are aggressive little b##### aren’t they.
There was a magic moment last week, our Jack Russell went chasing our resident rat into the bike shed, meanwhile a Robin landed on one of our ground solar lights just outside.
When Scooby emerged, the 2 of them had a stand off just a couple of feet apart, I was trying to turn on the camera as they stared each other out, who won, the Robin of course, he never flinched, bloody fearless dog did though.
Observations haven’t been good so far, non of our rare species want to show up, however, I did count 17 alledgedly rare house sparrows at one sitting yesterday.
I reckon that, because of the publicity, everyone has topped up their bird tables and the birds are spoiled for choice.
Interestingly enough, while taking the dogs out for a walk yesterday, I came across a bloke and his son hiding in the bushes watching a Heron, only it was a plastic one by someones pond, they took a bit of persuading that it wasn’t real, I told them about the birdwatch, ‘Havent you seen the publicity on TV’.
‘No, we only watch ‘Ceebebies’, give me strength, but they went on their way with the RSPB website on their minds.
Nothing to report while writing this, they are all asleep.

Dont get much birds now since next door cut down a conifer tree which had all sorts of garden birds living in 🙁 but the birds still come to the garden when there’s food out for them. Even though we have two cats , two cats next door three cats the other side of the fence and 1 cat next door to them 😀 I keep an eye out when they are out there back but theat them with the shower if they catch one 😮 😀

btw Peter Have you seen the robin dance when they won a fight 😎
