Typhoon v Veron

Just watched on Top Gear the awesome power of the Typhoon versus the German Veron Super Car.

The Veron had to race a mile up Conningsby’s runway and then back down again while the Typhoon starting the same time, had to take off, climb to a mile then dive back down to cross the finish line. The Veron could do 200mph.

The Typhoon p****d it:D 😀

There has been quite a few aircraft versus car showdowns from what I can recall, but I don’t think I can ever remember an incident where the aircraft lost.

Am I wrong and which ones can you remember?

The purpose of the bizzare set of rules is to give the idea of a genuine challenge/race. What would be the point of the Typhoon racing the Veyron to Norway?;) I was under the impression that Typhoon won this one.

Make It Up As You Go Along TV

To my mind, a bizarre set of rules. ‘Take off, then climb a mile, then dive back down to cross the finish line’. It may as well have been:

‘Take off with no reheat, execute an ‘S’ turn, then cross the finish line’

or:

‘Take off, execute a loop, then cross the finish line’

The ‘rules’ can be set to anything you want, as long as it’s good TV. And the RAF get free publicity.

Exciting TV for petrolheads and fast jet fans.

Anticipating posts from both!
