My son and his wife came to visit me last weekend, among other things, to cook my Christmas dinner since I cannot visit them and my grandchildren, as I usually do, this year.
They apologised for the absence of christmas crackers, as they had been confiscated at Stansted, presumably at the security checks, or possibly at check-in, I don’t know which. They did tell me that many other people had suffered the same confiscation.
I now learn, however, via Pprune, that Christmas crackers are allowed on scheduled flights if still contained in the retail packaging. So once again the over-enthusiastic security in the UK has spoiled many people’s enjoyment!
Is there any means of redress?

Sweden also has its share of daft rules, but they generally respect the laid-down limits.

No, but then many of these decisions are made by people who feel they have to do something to justify their existence. There are a lot of companies out there where decisions are made without thinking through the need for, and further long term effect of said decisions.
