This sad news has been posted in various places on the net. I thought I would forward it to here.
“Without any forewarning MidPase.com, my Webhost, has suspended my website and consequently my use of email
Since I am about to leave for holidays I don’t know where this will go.This is what they sent me:
“Your site ruudleeuw.com was suspended because it consumed an excessive amount
of resources.
One of our techs was doing a routine check on the server, and your site was
consuming more than 72.54% of the servers RAM, more than 21.06% of the server CPU.
Our policy is 10% of the entire servers resources.
The only way that we can get your site back online is if we go with a VPS or
dedicated solution.

any forewarning (in itself a reason to discontinue use of MidPhase and maybe even the website, as I
am frustrated by this enormously).
While suspension of my website is most inconvenient, suspension of my emails is a disaster, amidst
final preparations of my holidays (awaiting airlne and rental final confirmation)
. Think of this should you consider business with MidPhase.
Will keep you posted; meanwhile don’t send me emails as they won’t arrive.Ruud ‘Rudi’ Leeuw

I wonder if it would help if all those who admire and appreciate Ruuds
remarkable site were to e-mail this lot to show our disapproval.
Perhaps they might not be aware of just how much negative PR they have
achieved with this?
What do you think guys and gals.

Er…. His site is consuming too much of the host’s server and has been suspended. Unless I’m reading this wrong then it’s hardly the web hosters fault ?
Could not agree more. When the contract between the host and Ruud was made, no doubt a few guidelines regarding the amount of bandwidth and webspace would be allowed. Apparantly Ruud went over those guidelines, and quite generously as well.
Having said that, just shutting of the site and the mail without prior notification goes a bit far. At the very least they could have let Ruud keep the mail and enough bandwidth for him to create a single page explaining the sitatuation to his visitors. And the way I read Ruud’s mail I think it is exactly those two issues that pissed him of. But then, I do not know him so perhaps I am reading to much into it.
