Hi guys,
I was lucky enough to go on holiday to Laos and Thailand this year – Our trip would start in Bangkok where we would spend three days. We would then fly from Bangkok to Chiang Rai in Northen Thailand and then take a bus to Chiang Kong which is on the Thai/Laos border. We stayed overnight in a very small town called Huay Xai, Laos (Houay Xay) – The place itself is very basic but we only stayed one night in our lovely hotel  which cost $10 a night!
Descending into Kuala Lumpur
Chiang Rai
We then travelled down the Mekong River in a small speedboat (see video 1) for 7 hours which was one of the worst journeys I have ever experienced! We arrived in Luang Prabang and stayed for three days. Some shots from Luang Prabang

After Luang Prabang we travelled through Laos to Vang Vieng. Vang Vieng isn’t really a great place to visit if you want to see Laos but we used it for a stop off for a few days before heading towards Vientiane and Thailand. We rented some motorbikes/mopeds not even knowing how to ride them and having no license but in Laos this isn’t a problem. You will see 8-10 year olds riding around on them and also families of 4-5 on one bike! After some exploring we took the bikes back (bike + petrol cost us around $10 for the day!)
After Vang Vieng we headed to Vientiane. We decided to take an excursion where we would kayak some of the way before getting in a coach and continuing onto Vientiane.
After a night in Vientiane we headed for Udon Thani in Thailand. While waiting for our flight I got some pictures…

The airport was very quiet so there wasn’t much to do…
We flew to Phuket that evening and then drove over to Krabi – Over the next week we explored the small Islands (Phi Phi Island etc) and just chilled out. The weather in Krabi wasn’t too great but we had a great time.
Taking a few pictures at Krabi before a snake came along and scared the **** out of me

A few non-aviation photos (sorry there not the best)

Thanks for the comments guys, appreciate it 🙂
Great photos.
I was in Thailand again last month and I love the place. Like you, I’ve had a few snake scares! I’m not overly keen on the things, so the sight of one makes me shudder!
I don’t mind them but this one caught me buy suprise – I think it was quite scared itself so was trying to get away fast but it was struggling to get in the bushes which made me scared aswell 🙁 I hope to do the nicer places in Thailand (I know Phuket and Krabi are very touristy) eventually but I really want to go back to Luang Prabang and then over to Cambodia/Vietnam.
Amazing Photos Sam, Did you Manage to Find Hampson a Thai Bride?? 😉 😀
