FARNBOROUGH – BAe Systems has revealed a new fire fighter. After tests with a converted BAe146-100 the larger BAe146-200 will be offered as well. According to BAe is this version of the popular four engined jetplane cheaper in purchase and use than for instance Bombardiers CL-415 and Q400 or Berievs Be-200.

The BAe-146-200 can carry 11.355 litres of water and fireretardent per sorty.

BAe Systems is also considering to restart production of the BAe-146QT (Quiet Trader). The passenger version of the BAe-146, that was later rebranded as Avro RJ, was build till late 2003. In total 390 of these planes where build. The QT-version is a freighter that is used mostly by parcel companies like TNT Express.

So not new builds, but conversions. Still, if it brings back some life in the old girl I’m all in favour.

Im too well in favour, anything that brings any life back into the almost dead British Aviation scene is a good thing!
