There are some businesses in Cape Town, where the ship was going to dock, that will lose millions, one being a famous wine estate. Hopefully this will be temporary, once insurance kicks in. Still, not a very nice advert.

There are philistines in every part of the world…lets hope the full weight of the law is brought down upon these low lifes

It just shows what sort of government we have, when they are willing to let this happen. They should send in the army to cordon off the area, and if need be, arrest those that refuse to leave the area. I can think of more extreme measures, that would be very effective.:diablo: :diablo:

This is plain and simple theft of other people’s property, and seeing these scavengers (not “beachcombers”) makes me ashamed to hold a British passport.
I hope they are prosecuted.

I agree I felt ashamed to be British, just imagine shipping your own personal effects in to say the UK then find the scavengers hawking through that lot, some of our people act like those on rotting rubbish tips in Brasilia, but there again perhaps we are becoming a banana republic:(

Most people just can’t resist the temptation of getting something for nothing.

I’d like to think it was actually the minority of people who are like this.

I wouldn’t give it back but then again, I wouldn’t take it in the first place.

This is pure and simple looting, the worst side of human nature. Most people just can’t resist the temptation of getting something for nothing. We have seen it all before on TV , with youths running riot, and stealing goods from shops. Nothing changes, still the same old human characteristics, that are lurking under our so called civilized society.

Being Cornish, and with pirates and (possibly) wreckers among my ancestors, I should say NOT!
