Real madrids and Former MAN utd plyaer David Beckham has just signed for USA footie team LA galaxy for record breaking £128 million 5 year deal according to Sky News.
Will be leaveing at the end off this season. So he will still have to sit on the bench at real for a little while longer.

The Beckhams will only leave for the US when thier marketing people decern there has been a drop of in public interest in the pair, movement will be preceded by world wide press anouncements to ensure that once again the Beckhams produce the finacial goods that the public seems so willing too pay for these microscopic life forms, God help us all when the American Marketing Guru’s get to work on these two….. 😡

one question…..why? i thought everyone hated him now. oh and another why! why…is he allowed to earn that much? footballers are paid atronomically too much money.

ARE THERE MANY PEOPLE REALY INTERESTED ???

Simple answer is they paid so much for him because his name is hugely marketable, They will be able to sell shirts, Calenders, Toys you name it…
I’d guess most of his “marketability” won’t be aimed at the U.S. market, but continue to be focused to Europe, Africa, and Asia where he’s already a big star.
I’m not sure the average non-football fan will be overly impressed with a guy who best years are behind him.
Simple fact, they won’t have seen or really known him at his peak…so his worth as a marketing tool will be lessened in the U.S. market.
Aging/geriatric English pop stars do well in the U.S. beacuse they’re trading on well known past hits. But if you haven’t grown up watching the guy play it might be a harder sell.

new entry for “Colemanballs”
“Footballistically”. As uttered by no less a person than Arsene Wenger, Arsenal Manager, describing Beckham in answer to the question “is he finished”.
Joins:
“Bouncebackability” (Ian Dowie)
“Dragbackflick” (Ron Atkinson, describing an indescribable piece of skill – not Becks, obviously).
Proves no matter how “cultured” you are, football still proves that the “boys done good”…

Good luck to the guy. Hes a person, he a footballer, hes a marketing toy as its already been said. If my boss in the NHS came up with an offer like that I would take it:D
Sticks in my throat a bit that have just worked out how long it would take to me earn 128 million and it would take 800 years, so dont think I will still be around to see that milestone!:)

why they pay so much for such an ugly person?
he was a good player century ago when i was a child .
Simple answer is they paid so much for him because his name is hugely marketable, They will be able to sell shirts, Calenders, Toys you name it with his name on,And his name is known globally so thats plenty of people to sell to, The first time he plays will probably be to a sellout crowd with all the hype that comes with him.
The press will follow him or his Wife everywhere so they will get publicity that way too, Its all a marketing exersise really, Lets be honest Football(Soccer) is not too popular in America and Beckham could be the thing to increase its popularity.
Yes its silly money but i probably will bring back silly money and lets be honest if you are nearing the end of your career like Beckham is and somebody comes up with a deal like this you ain’t going to turn it down.

He was quoted as saying he’s not going there for the money, but for the opportunity of building up a US footie club. Yeah right:rolleyes: , so why isn’t he donating all the cash to a charity then…..
He’s now clearly a “has been” who knows he won’t get an offer he can afford to take from a top-flight European club, so this gives him a chance to make some cash whilst being able to put a brave face on what is probably his last move before retirement…. $7300 an hour, how will he ever be able to survive on so little 😀

That’s a million dollars a week….$7300 an hour or $120 per minute ….at 31 i think that’s bad investment

Is it only me, or dose this smack of top flight football career coming to an end ,so take the cash before its too late.
Or…to prepare for his next career as a professional celebrity.
L.A.’s the place for that.
PS. There is a new story on the Sports Illustrated Magazine site that says he’ll be getting less than $10 million a year to play…the other $40 million will come from other areas and endorsements.
