Someone passed this to me the other day, saying it was a good one for my new ipod, I don’t think so, totally incomprehensible lyrics:-
Manfred Mann – Blinded By the Light Lyrics
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Madman drummers bummers,
Indians in the summer with a teenage diplomat
In the dumps with the mumps as the adolescent pumps his way into his hat
With a boulder on my shoulder, feelin’ kinda older,
I tripped the merry-go-round
With this very unpleasin’, sneezin’ and wheezin,
the calliope crashed to the ground
The calliope crashed to the ground
But she was…
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Some silicone sister with a manager mister told me I go what it takes
She said “I’ll turn you on sonny to something strong,
play the song with the funky break”
And go-cart Mozart was checkin’ out the weather chart to see if it was safe outside
And little Early-Pearly came by in his curly-wurly and asked me if I needed a ride
Asked me if I needed a ride
But she was…
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
She got down but she never got tired
She’s gonna make it through the night
She’s gonna make it through the night
But mama, that’s where the fun is
But mama, that’s where the fun is
Mama always told me not to look into the eye’s of the sun
But mama, that’s where the fun is
Some brimstone baritone anticyclone rolling stone preacher from the east
Says, “Dethrone the dictaphone, hit it in it’s funny bone,
that’s where they expect it least”
And some new-mown chaperone was standin’ in the corner,
watching the young girls dance
And some fresh-sown moonstone was messin’ with his frozen zone, reminding him of romance
The calliope crashed to the ground
But she was…
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
Madman drummers bummers, Indians in the summer with a teenage diplomat

With a boulder on my shoulder, feelin’ kinda older,
I tripped the merry-go-round
With this very unpleasin’, sneezin’ and wheezin,
the calliope crashed to the ground
Now Scott with a slingshot finially found a tender spot and throws his lover in the sand
And some bloodshot forget-me-not said daddy’s within earshot save the buckshot, turn up the band
Some silicone sister with a manager mister told me I go what it takes
She said “I’ll turn you on sonny to something strong”Oh and I disagree about post Water’s lyrics for Pink Floyd.
Blinded by the Light was written by Bruce Springsteen and was on his first album “Greetings from Asbury park” it makes no sense at all but the Manfreds version sounds better in my view.

Riders On The Storm by The Doors
There’s a killer on the road
His brain is squirmin’ like a toad
Take a long holiday
Let your children play
If you give this man a ride
Sweet memory will die
Killer on the road, yeah. This was the last track on the LP L.A.Woman.If you can,try to hear this track on the recently released DVD Audio disc remixed in 5.1 😀
Barrythemod … if you read the book “no one here gets out alive” you’ll be treated to the story behind that song. Superb album BTW.
As a child/youth (sorry, I can’t remember the age) Jim was travelling in his parents car as the family went away on holiday. There was a bad storm and a car crash in which some guy had killed someone else on the road. The Morrison’s car crawled through the carnage with the young Jim in the back seat fixated on the scene and it got seared into his memory. I’m sure we’ve all got some sort of childhood experience burnt in there somewhere. And ultimately it came out in this atmospheric song.
I think it tells a very clear story … not at all obscure.
cheers Don

I’ve always thought that the last line of One Vision by Queen was a bit bizzare;
“Fried Chicken”

Following on from EN830……..The Manfreds also did this but was written and sung by……..
Bob Dylan….Quinn The Eskimo
Everybody’s building big ships and the boats,
some are building monuments,
others jotting down notes.
Everybody’s in despair
every girl and boy,
but when Quinn the Eskimo gets here
everybody’s gonna jump for joy.
( chorus )
Come all without,come all within,
you’ll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn.
I like to do just like the rest,
I like my sugar sweet,
but guarding fumes and making haste,
it ain’t my cup of meat.
Everybody’s ‘neath the trees,
feeding pigeons on a limb,
but when Quinn the Eskimo gets here,
all the pigeons gonna run to him.
( chorus )
A cat’s meow and a cow’s moo,I can recite ’em all.
Just tell me where it hurts yuh, honey,
and I’ll tell you who to call.
Nobody can get no sleep,
there’s someone on everyone’s toes,
but when Quinn the Eskimo gets here,
everybody’s gonna wanna doze.
( chorus )…..repeat to fade……
Who was this Quinn geezer anyway and why are pigeons attracted to him.The public need to know !!!!!!!!!;)

I reckon you’d have to have some waccy-baccy to understand these lyrics…
[B]
Well I think that was the name of the game. I was a student at the time and went to many a party, where this would be put on and out it would come. Another thing was to “drop acid” and read “Alice in Wonderland”. I have never touched drugs even though all my student friends were into them. But having said that I have become far too familiar with John Barleycorn.
Dexedrin was our choice.
Just thaught of a couple more. Here’s the first………
Riders On The Storm by The Doors
(1)Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this house we’re born
Into this world we’re thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out on loan
Riders on the storm
There’s a killer on the road
His brain is squirmin’ like a toad
Take a long holiday
Let your children play
If you give this man a ride
Sweet memory will die
Killer on the road,yeah.
Girl you gotta love your man
Girl you gotta love your man
Take him by the hand
Make him understand
The world on you depends
Our life will never end
Gotta love your man,yeah
Repeat (1)
Repeat “Riders on the storm” to fade-out.
This was the last track on the LP L.A.Woman.If you can,try to hear this track on the recently released DVD Audio disc remixed in 5.1 😀

A Whiter Shade Of Pale by Procal Harum
We skipped the light fandango
turned cartwheels ‘cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
but the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
as the ceiling blew away
When we called out for another drink
the waiter brought a tray
And so it was that later
as the miller told his tale
that her face,at first just ghostly
turned a whiter shade of pale
She said “There is no reason
and the truth is plain to see”
But I wandered through my playing cards
and would not let her be
one of sixteen vestal virgins
who were leaving for the coast
and although my eyes were open
they might just have well be closed

Oh and I disagree about post Water’s lyrics for Pink Floyd.
😮 😮 well Sorrow and Coming back to ligth are decent ones…..
But those polly Samson’s mediocore non sense are almoust insult towards whole rock scene…If they wanted to keep up as an imitation of Pink Floyd, would int be that hard to find lyricist that would have give much better impression

Not sure if the title is right, but that song by Dean Martin “Thats Amore”
“When the moon hits your eyes, it’s like a big Pizza Pie”

Some songs are unadulterated cr@p whilst others are unalloyed brilliance, but occasionally you get a good song marred by just one or two weird words. For example in Bob Marley’s “No Woman, No Cry” what on earth posessed him to include that bit about wholemeal porridge? And in Jimmy Cliff’s otherwise haunting “Many Rivers To Cross” there’s the inexplicable ‘Wandering I am lost as I travel along the white cliffs of Dover’
Any others?
Always wondered what that porridge reference was all about.Nice to know I’m not the only one.
