NMT New Music Thread for DISCUSSION about musical stuff

So before some vigilance mod starts draw the six-shootas and execute poor Golly, this thread isen’t supposed to be another chatroom type of thing where you post your lates musical expereinces but a civilized discussion lounge over matter that is too important to surpass in this nor any other internet forums…

Music…

I was just wathcing some live stuff from Led Zeppelin in Youtube and it made really boost up my next big monetary expense; to buy me a decent drumset of my own. I’ve already been drooling upon them in the local musicstore but I promised to my little sister that I wont buy them untill november when she starts her Asian turnee. Reason for this is that I need to place the drums at my parents home as my own flat is too near of local memorial home, and I doupt the grannies and grnapas like my own impression of Moby Dick :dev2: Neither does my little sister who is desperetly uncouraging in my musical attemps…

So untill november I’m tied to just using all sort of sticks laying around and hit with them against almoust anything that makes a sound…Yeas it’s as irritating as it sounds to both parties (To me and to those have to listen to it) but you cannot stop rocking :diablo:

NAZARETH…

Ac/DC is good too but I find their drum comps quite boring ones…to my cassual listeners ear they sound the same…the band could be pretty amazing whit more creative drummer onboard

Ok then how about Nazareth, another great Band but this time British. Check out their ‘ Loud and proud’ Albumn for originality. Also check out’ Close enough for rock and roll ‘
Albumn. :dev2:

Heavy metal…

I always thought The Razor’s Edge was an underrated AC/DC album. The title track is one of my favorite AC/DC songs, and Money Talks is pretty amusing. These guys are icons and I hope they go out on tour again soon.

Hmmm I will have to check that out, havn’t heard that one. I like AC DC because they are such lovable darlings in every sense of the word. They look great, sound great and of course are from down under.
There is no other Band quite like them, because they are unique…. :diablo:

Drum and Base conceptual sound.

I reckon drum and Bass too be full of life, with cool undertones setting the scene in my mind. You can meditate too drum and bass, you can dance too it and you can listen too it while doing something. There is no other modern music that comes near it in terms of variety of sound. So from a modern music point of view D and B kicks where others falter. I think D and B should be up there with heavy metal . :diablo:

Considering it’s all produced from computer technology it’s pretty good.

…but when the stuff comes from your heartbeat, nothing can compete with that! 😉

Actually the biggest reason why I so much like Zeppelin and consider them being superior to many of theyr “competitiors” is the rythm. In many songs when they performed live the Bassplayer, John Paul Jones played organ and used only pedal bass which obviously made the basslines bit lousy…or would have without Bonzo who sort of replaced the normal basslines supposedly played by the basist with his basspedal. It’s quite evident in songs like Straiway to heaven, Since I’ve been loving you and in Trampled under foot (which is in fact is a pure funky rock song!!)

Beat the Beat.

I’m bit noob with these english drumming terms but I think I got the idea, basicly very fast phase drumming, found in aggressive punk and deathmetal stuff??

I first started my “Musical selffullfilling” with latin percussions, with Gongas and bongoes. Thus the complex rythm patterns have great appeal to me. Thats why I mostly admire John Bonhams (from led zeppelin) style and found myself very often imitating him (with variable success 😉 ) His use of single bass pedal in a way that makes most of the douplebass users look like woodchops is phenomenal. I’ve managed to get my left foot (i’m left handed) not as good as bonham, but at least to the same planet if so to speak. At the moment i’m trying to adjust my style of playing The Who stuff which is really, really hard. Keinth Moon used douplebass pedals but his overallway of drumming was completely uniq. None have played like him before and propaply none never will. He plays the drums as they where the leading instrument in away that sometimes sounds that he plays the songs melody and not just the rythm…Moony often uses his feets to create the rythmbase and freeing his hands to somesort of berserk whirlwind filling. I’ve tryed to use my quick left foot to di the task of Moon’s twolegs, with not so good results, the style is just too hard..

Well apart from some heavy metal, my favourite music is Drum and Bass. I love the fast beats and manic rhythm. Add too that futuristic harmonies all mixed up with the odd vocals, it’s just what my brain needs too chill out. Oh and the Base 40hz comes at you in the backround , giving your subs a good pasting. Hip Hop, Garage and Bass Breaks don’t come anywhere near it.

are you by chance familiar with the term “blast beat”?

actually not, carew to enlighten a bit

Have you heard Jeff Walker’s country cover song CD? COMPLETELY hilarious! There’s actually a few tracks on there that are suprisingly good.

I’ve heard about the guy, but never actually heard anything of his recordings…But I don’t doupt that when covering country music, and even more if its done in ironical ways, it may actually sound enterteining..becouse hell sure the “real” country isen’t, at least not in here up north…

Interesting. I can never find a decent drummer to play with over here, ever considered moving to the USA?

In the days of wireless internet connections, fastlanes and webcams, a little moisty gutter (the Atlantic Ocean) shouln’t be no burden, I should be able to do the drum parts from here… 😎 😉 :dev2:

Then, it hit me! Country music is adult emo!

Here’s something that occurred to me the other day. I was listening to some bit of music being played over the loudspeakers somewhere. It just so happened to be country music. Then, it hit me! Country music is adult emo!
