Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who
has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was
since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.
He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as
knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm,
life isn’t always fair, and maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend
more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children,
are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but
overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year- old
boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens
suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for
reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the
job they themselves failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental
consent to administer Panadol, sun lotion or a Band Aid to a student – but
could not inform the parents when a student b ecame pregnant and wanted to
have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became
contraband, churches became businesses, and criminals received better
treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a
burglar in your own home and the burglar can sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live after a woman failed to realize
that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in
her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust;
his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason.
He is survived by three stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, Someone Else
is to Blame, and I’m A Victim.
Not many attended his funeral be cause so few realized he was gone.
If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and
do nothing.
Funny, but so very true 😀

Thanks for your comments ollieholmes, I guess everyone else thinks it’s not worth discussing. Britain is now a very different country too what it once was.
My opinion is , we only have ourselves too blame for the present mess. The question that should concern everyone is how far will it slide, will it take a serious break down in society too correct the rot. As with most things nothing gets done too correct these problems until they have gone too far. Gun and knife crime are a result of our lack of action too correct the problem. As I said here in Britain things have changed, our export market has all but vanished, we live in a much more cosmopolitan society, we are no longer the military power we used too be. We may be better off with all our Computer technology, and other gadgets, but are we better inside ourselves. If as you say the young are bored, then they are not being stretched enough in schools, too use that Brain of theirs. I think regarding Graffeti that its marking ones own territory, there are kids out there who feel alienated by society, so they turn too defacing things too get their point across. You should see some of the Buses around here, windows scratched etc. See, everybody is scared of sorting these kids out because of their human rights. We the hard working majority have never before felt so helpless too sort these kids out.Human rights discriminates against the majority in favour of the minority..I personally will not remonstrate with any wrong doing young person, as I have no protection from the law. So as far as I am concerned things can carry on as they are….

Roscoria,
You make some good points there. It is not fair that people should fear for their own lives wali=king around the streets after dark. I cannot comment on London as i do not live there and i avoid the place as much as possible. I agree sentances should be increased, life should mean life. Fines should be heavier when fines are issued. I agree bring back national service.
I would like to make a suggestion on your question about Vandalism, grafffetti and violence. I believe for the most part it is young people my age and there abouts, possibly slighty older are bored. They do not know what to do with themselves, they have not been taught respect. People try and set things up for them to do and they do not respect that.
It seems that people of the slightly older age group (i think pre pcs) knew how to amuse themselves in general. They would go outside and go fishing or model making or something similler to keep themselves out of trouble and amused.

I just pressed the wrong button, and lost my most important post of all..
Why do we have so many prisoners?
why do ordinary people feel afraid too walk the streets at night?
why are some parts of London no go areas?
why does the human rights law favour criminals?
Why do we need too make our homes into a fort Knox?
Why no national service?
Why are sentences for criminals so lenient?
Why is there so much Vandalism, graffeti and violence?
Why is there no respect anymore, Buses are defaced, takaway rubbish thrown on the floor, the list is endless.
Why in the early hours are there youngsters shouting their Heads off, and talking loudly?
RESPECT FOR ORDINARY PEOPLE HAS GONE . OBITUARY….. 🙁

1. Disciplin reinstated in Schools.
2 Bring back the stocks.
3. Harsher sentences.
4. Bring back the chain gang.
5. National service returned.
6. Human rights abolished.
7. All Police and civilians carry hand guns .
8. Harsher Prisons.
9. Shoot too kill in defence of your property.
10. Barbwire allowed, too protect your property.
So in order to achive order lets spread some havoc??
I am myself coming from a country where guns are strickly supervised with permissions to buy and carry are needed…and as sportsshooter I have had any proplems to buy a gun and get the needed permissions to them…
Also in here there is a national military service mandatory to all young males…
…and what is the best we have great respect towards human rights and wellware sosiety which allows citizens to actually to benefit of their rights…
…so are you living in the wrong country  😉 :p

Yes indeed, what is required is a minister of common sense, similar too the newly appointed health Minister. You would have thought by now, we would have a Country too be proud of, we would be at the peak of our development. Well it has gone terribly wrong, with no improvement in sight. This is how I would solve the present crisis .

Lets start a program of humiliation, and get some sense of order back.
There will have too be pain if there is too be change. 😡

COMMON SENSE
Deano, I coudn’t agree more, we now live in very sad times, brought about by do gooders. We have also lost self respect for one another, a trip on the local Bus demonstrates this. Graffeti , Vandalism, yobbish behaviour, are signs of a sick society. I also blame the take away mentality, which has taken cooking skills away from young people. Today, there is so much wrong, I wonder if it’s ever going too recover. Neighbours don’t talk too each other any more, Cameras in most Towns, spying on us. Looking back, the days of the Mods and rockers were far better, ok there may have been violence, but it was limited. The occasional battle at the Sea side, minimal vandalism, no Cameras , neighbours communicated, etc etc. In this age of high tech you would have thought things would be better, the reverse is true. Common sense, what’s that. 🙁

Jeez Deano, I thought another forum member had met an untimely end ? 😮
That said, maybe ‘Common Sense’ started posting elsewhere years ago ? 😮
