Happy 4th of July

The USA, home of freedom and Neocons, Statue of Liberty and McDonald’s. The greatest economy on earth and its sole superpower.
Since WWII it has been viewed by millions as a symbol of hope in this world, but more recently as a symbol of corruption and ignorance. Let’s hope things will get better soon.

Anyway, to our American forumates, Happy Independence day! 😀

I don’t know Gollevainen, over here Finns aren’t known for their mirth.

….now I know why americans are blaimed to be the most nonhumoristic country in the world…
😉

I don’t know about most Americans, but some of them really know how to spark some good satirical fun: Matt Stone and Trey Parker, Stephen Colbert, Dave Chappelle, the people behind TV-shows like MADtv and Married With Children etc.

At the risk of sounding like an old guy, don’t forget the Marx Brothers and Mark Twain….oh yeah, Baywatch.

A belated Happy Independence Day to you all!

Just one question though:

Why is it referred to as the 4th of July when every other date is referred to with the month first?

i.e. June 6th 1944

Happy July 4th everyone. The Yankees got thrashed 19-1 too! Simply stunning!

Go Braves!

I said, like we say in here.. so there’s your context…We finns often use (as we have the ability of selfirony) the word stubborness day when refering our own independence day. It’s a wordplay, Itsenaisyys=Indebendence, Itsepaisyys=stubborness…the words are very similar and if you think it without any passion, they actually means almoust the same. So it’s funny to us, but apparently not funny to americans…yor lost 😉

stubborness? In the context of this sentence that hardly makes any sense….

If you want to attempt to make a joke or talk bad about America I have no problem with that, but at least use real English…..

Better yet make the joke funny……that wasn’t even close.

And if I may be bold enough to speak for the entire country….something that needs to be said:

Thanks to our allies for their many contributions to America’s liberty and defense.

Happy Fourth to my fellow Americans.

Pray for our service members who are overseas and cannot spend time with their families.

Being a service member myself I can’t help but wishing I could do more for my country at the moment, but I guess I just got started and things take time….
