Too many in jail, says top judge

Just come accross a report on the BBC news site and some top judge seems to think that to many people are in jail.

Well to start with this seems shocking, I was under the impression that the last thing a judge does is send people to jail these days.

In the last 18 months I have been the victim of fraud and the bitch that stole my ID and £11,000 grand of my cash before setting up loans in my name for over £15,000 is still walking the steet and is still doing fraud against other people.

Its high time people like this **** of a judge started living in the real world and gave some serrious jail time, who cares is scum suffer if they **** around chuck them inside.

Great idea! And if it turns out that we’ve hanged an innocent man we can dig him up, apologise, and send him on his way with hearty handshakes all round and no harm done.

Can’t we?

Isn’t that why they got rid of hanging in the first place GA? 😀 😀 😀 Mark 😀 It’s a fair point though

Simple answer, bring back hanging and flogging then sit back and watch crime figures plummet.

There seem to be many people inside who have just stepped one foot out of line when there are repeat offenders who are permitted to walk the streets and terrorise numerous innocent people.

If one of them came up to me and punched me I would have to stand there and take it otherwise I’ll be sent to prison whereas they have and will continue to get away with it……………..it makes you wonder sometimes doesn’t it!!!!!!!!!

You said it. Sounds like the sensible answer. Then again when do governments ever do anything sensible?

Thanks guys. I didn’t think it was that hard a solution. The government is always shouting about how they’ve got the numbers of unemployed down and yet they have a wonderful opportunity to get them down even more and don’t take it. Without deliberately dropping certain categories of unemployed from the calculations

Simple answer – build more prisons. Employ more prison officers and reduce the unemployment in one easy operation.

😎 YES MIKE You have the solution.

If criminals were topped the prison population would be even smaller, as many are in for repeat offending.

I don’t believe in this community sentencing crap, many of those given these sort of sentences never bother to turn up for their “rehabilitation”.

Singapore has the best idea on dealing with drug crime. And any crime come to that (and I can hear the howls of protest from the Amnesty International lovers!)

Mike get back on it ! Your spot on there. If the punishments were harsher im sure some criminals would think twice about reoffending. The system is a joke !

The prison system is too soft. Prison is a punishment not a holiday. The current number of prisoners reoffending is proof that the soft option does not work. Right I’ll get off my soap box now.

Im sorry Andrew but i agree for once with the judge, there are too many people in our prisons who could be rehabilitated in the comunity.Drug offenders do want to go to prison for the excellent rehabilitation programs they offer, ones they have to go on a waiting list on the outside, and you have to remember that prison life to some people is far better than their life outside. The problem lies in funding for such programs outside of your run of the mill prisons.Dont think for a second I’m a namby pamby type who thinks prisons should be holiday camps. It needs fresh ideas for what to do with and how to deal with offenders.Boot camps, schools were they have to attend or even may i dare to say build more prisons of varying catagorys.May be other people have ideas.
Im truly sorry you have been a victim of crime it changes your view of the scum dosent it,but in my case they had a drug problem which didnt go any were near explaining away what they did to us,but talking to an ex drug addict very recently it did help in understanding what drove them.
