The second part of the Moscow threads belongs to Vnukovo. I spend a day and a half here. A half day airside and a full day in the final approach. The landside pictures will follow later, here are the airside pictures.
We spend time at several platforms, but not at the Rossiya governmental platforms and neither at the biz-jet platforms.
As mentioned, we had no access to the Rossiya platforms, but we where free to make pictures from a distance.

When you are in the area, you should have a look at Ostafyevo. General aviation only airport, about in the middle between Vnukovo and Domodedovo. Very small, very modern.

Nice. Thx.
The good thing about Vnukovo is it has the best autobahn connection and the least amount of travellers …
That I noticed! We spend a full day in the final approach standing next to the sliproad onto the M3 (westbound). During that day we may have seen 20 cars driving past, half of them service vehicles.
In fact, it was not even a problem to cross the sliproad as a pedestrian! We did that near the police box.

Absolutely! It was a great trip! And so far you’ve only seen half of my catch!
It’s gonna get better as well. A day later I was in the final approach, and saw a Rossiya IL62 in the final approach. It did two approaches actually, must have been a training flight.
Those shots will follow in a day or two. First I am gonna do the Domodedovo air-side photos (lot’s of stored Ilyushins). Then two threads for Vnukovo landside and Domodedovo landside.
i really look forward to seeing them. I always remember when I was working a Cubana IL62M as a T/O seeing it deploy the reverse thrust ‘buckets’ as it crossed the threshold with the nose dropping sharply as a result.

Peter, Thanks for these great images. Really good to see that immaculate IL62 (not that I’m biased). They really don’t make them like that anymore…..:(

Excellent shots. My favourite is line-up of Tu-154s towards the end. 🙂

The next two photos where taken from the VARZ-400 maintenance area. The planes where parked on the biz-jet area, but we had no access there.
And the pictures from VARZ-400:
This is not the Alrosa that crashed a few days ago. I got the crashed Alrosa earlier that day at Domodedovo.
