Aeropelican Changes

My favourit little airline has undergone some major changes in the last six months.

Flights to and from Belmont airport are no longer, instead they are now flying from Williamtown airport and have stated that they are still fully committed to service the people of Newcastle. The change means that people now have a 20min drive north for flights rather than a 10min drive south. I would be interested in seeing if the public transport has also kept up with the change, previously the government buses used to run down to Swansea on a regular basis(IIRC one every 10 min). A private bus company used to run up to Williamtown but their services were not as regular (one every hour untill 19:00).

The other major change is that they now have a new plane, CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority- not CASA part of EADS) have delivered an EMB-110P1. Whilest this carries two less people than the current DHC-6/400’s (15 as opposed to 17), it’s speed and fuel capacity make it a faster option for operations over the Twin Otters.

I am planing a trip in the coming moths with my daughters on this service, I will post a trip report and some pics when it happens. My father hasn’t seen my girls in 12 years and they want to experience flying but their mother won’t let them citing that it is too dangerous, so I will kill two birds with the one stone!
