Anyone stuck in the snow?

Hi folks

Sometimes living out in the countryside can have its drawbacks, I tell ya! Yes, I’m stuck in the snow. I dug my car out from where its sat all weekend, managed to get a few hundred metres down a very clogged road, then had to stop on a hill due to some idiot and that was me… can’t move. I had the presence of mind to dring a shovel with me, but nowt helped. Passers by just, passed by… no assitance offered. The nearby grit bin, empty and a burned black blob.

I’ll try later to get my car out, its supposed to rain and that might melt enough snow for me to get out. But, I walked back in snow half way up to my knees!

A day off work, with no pay 🙁

Because I’ve a relative in hospital there I had to ignore advice not to drive and set off from E Anglia equipped with suitable clothing, rations, shovel et al, for Lancashire and N Wales.

Personally had no problems, but the road was frequently obstructed by others floundering and coming to grief. (I’d left the wide-tyred Puma on the drive and we were using Mrs Moggy’s Citroen)

I suppose people have to attempt it to learn; the weather in this part of the UK is too uncertain for there to be any formal snow training. But it does annoy you when you have places you need to be.

There was a plentiful supply of silly idiot driving skills (or lack there of to be precise) yesterday. Lots of folks setting off with just the windscreen cleared of snow. LEaving a 4 to 6 inch layer of snow on their bonnets and roofs! I mean, how bloody stupid can you get?!

I hate big cities.
Too crowded, dark n smelly, but winter is the only time of year I find them to be of benefit!
