What seperates us from other animals is that humans are intelligent enough to be able to make decisions and decide to give other animals the right to life (or at least good welfare depending on your views).
well I know we can choose, but on what principles? There are 6 billion people out there and providing them all a healthy vegan diet would result catahstropal effects on worlds ecosystems and infrastructures….like I said in the other thread over this matter, Playing vegetarst or vegan is priviledge for rich kids in western urban regions and is by nature almoust offending to the silent majority which have no change to determ how ‘ethical’ it is to eat something.

vampire- humans are intelligent enough to give animals good welfare. But it’s not a reason not to eat meat. People are naturally carnivores, there’s nothing “wrong” with that in principle. The only issue is how; whether by good welfare or not.

Viper01 – Eggs and milk aren’t surplus. Animals are intensively bred and reared to produce eggs and milk before being slaughtered for meat.

Ok, Thats cool but after the video I saw on PETA i’m considering veganism
Why? Isn’t vegetarianism good enough? What’s wrong with using surplus eggs and milk the animals don’t need anyway?
I think your parents have a point; you should take some more time to reflect over this.

OK enough of the p*ss take, so your a vegetarian, very admirable ,just remember your only young and vegetarianism is a life choice not a religion ,so the response you got on your thread will be mainly the response you ll get in real life. Vegetarians are and god willing, be in a minority for the foreseeable future. No disrespect to you ,you have your views and i agree that animals should be kept in clean healthy environments and in most cases they are, a farmer dose not want lame or diseased stock, also public opinion is changing and more organic and free range foods are becoming available. But the demand for meat is and will always be there.
so ive said my bit….
I hope you have a fit and healthy life and remember if you get tired, listless, rundown, there’s always a lamb chop with your name on it 😀

I love all animals and think they shuld be left alone
…ok few questions? Can other animals eat each others? What seperates us from rest of the animals and says we cannot eat other animals? What separates plants from animals? Doesen’t plants have right to be left alone as well?
By: heslop01 - 19th March 2006 at 14:30
Just a question: Do you feel the same way about spiders, snakes and mosquitoes as you do about kittens, dogs, cows and pigs, just to mention a few?
Dude one word – YES!

I’m mostly vegetartian too and 100% agree you can live well on a vegetarian diet. There’s lots of intresting things to be made, not just mash and boiled brocolli. My better half is vege, but I occasionally strike out and devour a rack of lamb. But I simply can’t take beef anymore, something to do with the enzymes. The insides curdle and squirm … and later … arrrrggggh. Not nice.

Apparently there’s not much meat on a rat and the cleaning out of the carcase has to be thorougher due to the things they consume.Saying all that a pall has tried rat on a survival course and said it wasn’t bad and would taste better if you were starving…
By: PilotDKH - 14th March 2006 at 17:50
Another thing I don’t get. If Rat meat was sold in supermarkets, people wouldn’t even touch it, let alone buy it. Yet people willing buy & eat Pigeons & Squirrels?
The yanks say it best with “Go figure”!
By: laviticus - 14th March 2006 at 16:58
If that does it for you, there Would also be more rats & grey squirrels to eat!
mmmmmmmm rat e la brandy sauce and gray squirrel lightly grilled with baby carrots chives and a dollop of English mustard 😀
