Cat name

Ok you lot.

Today we( Mrs h and I) bought a new cat from a local rescue centre. He is aa 18 month old male ginger tabby who the rescue centre named Rodney, he’s only had the name a couple of weeks and doesn’t respond to it so we can change it but were a bit stuck.

So if you have any suggestions then please post them here.

One rule( so I’ve been told) is that the name can’t be anything to do with aeroplanes.

I’m looking forward to hearing your ideas.

Neal

Clarkson was expounding a similar thought on QI a few months ago.
He said if you acquire cats in pairs, and name them accordingly, one of each pair will inevitably “buy the farm” and you end up with Whisky and Pepper or some equally unlikely combination.

I always wanted a pair of cats I could call Pratt and Witney.

The fear always was that Witney would buy the farm and you’d be stuck forever with a lone cat called ‘Pratt’.

(Not sure if the enormity of that translates into American)

I had a tom cat in College that had been neutered. We called him “Nutless”. He was very popular in the neighborhood, even though he could only shoot blanks. Sadly, one night he did not return. Probably a jealous husband…

Damn, I really miss that cat.

Something simple: Ginge!

My gran’s cat, Barney, used to respond to that. Mind you, he was several sandwiches short of a picnic! 😀

Thanks for all your suggestions. We thought about the name Boris but we have decided to call him Harley.

Neal

Nice name.

Weve had cats called; biscuit, casper, gemima and many others i cant remember. She would never let me call one after anything aviation related.

If he was called Miaow, he’d be able to say his own name. 😀

Hurts,doesn’t it!

I came fairly unglued and saw off a bottle of Smirnoff Blue label in 2 days. I don’t drink a lot of spirits so would normally expect that to last me a year or so!

Here he is

A lovely ginger tom.Cracking markings.Very Tigger-ish.
His silver-grey ears/jowls stand out.
Please DON’T call him Tigger. He deserves more than that 😎

Call it carpenter……it’ll probably do jobs all around the house!!

If it does that i am sure it will get many other much ruder names 😀 .

Neal

I don’t think cats ever respond to their names, they are too self-centered to bother 😀 😀 But then again, I’m a dog’s owner. 😉

Tiger seem a very good name for him after seeing his picture.
