Unfortunately the world we live in is a cruel place, full of undesirables.
A close friend of mine was comming home from a supermarket yesterday evening (about 7.45pm-8pm). As some of you are living in this area, it was the ASDA branch in Oadby, Leicester. Anyway, walking down the street back to the halls of residence and next to a main road, he was grabbed from behind and forced to the ground.
The assailants took his mobile phone, backpack (containing a few DVDs and such) and made off. He bravely gave chase, dispite a wounded eye and some bruises, but the B*****ds got clean away.
Thankfully he is ok now. The doctors have said he will be fine physically and the police have been very helpful.
I am posting this here to ask if anyone else has experienced anything similar to themselves or people they know? If so, were any of the criminals caught? (I myself am not hopeful). I find it appalling that in this day and age we still have to fear to leave our homes.
Only the other day (in the exact same area), i saw a cyclist being intimidated and abused verbally and phyiscally by a disgrutled driver.
I am also worried that my friend may suffer from long term anxiety and stress. He seems fine at the moment, but what if he is just supressing his feelings?
Any adivce, comments or discussion would be appreciated. Thanks to you all in advance.

Hi all.
Some developments. It turns out my friend’s sister phoned him on the mobile to see how he was, unaware that the phone had been taken. She actually had a conversation with the B@$tards, and asked why they had done it. Any guesses why?…
“for a laugh”.
Suffice to say, if we ever find out who they were, i would be very happy for me and the lads to pay them a visit with some cricket bats. Just for a laugh you understand :dev2: :diablo:
Time? Date? Place?
That’s if I can join you 😀 😀 😀 Mark 😀 Just for a laugh 😉 😉 😉

Not sure, DazDaMan
It probably can, but not as a matter of routine anyway. The phone and SIM card have since been cancelled anyway.

Surely the call can be traced?? Or have I been watching too many episodes of The Bill?

Why didn’t you just boot him in the balls.
Boot him in the balls and then in the face. Both hands will be occupied so you can make good your escape 😀 😀 😀 Mark 😀

I’ve never been mugged or assaulted otherwise personally, but my mate’s girlfriend was when we were out for the night about 2 years ago. She separated from us to go to a cash machine literally 20 yards away as we queued to get into a club in Liverpool one night, and that was all it took. Some smackhead as high as a kite literally ran full pelt into her and tackled her into the ATM as she got her money from the machine. He then dragged her to the pavement and started trying to rip the money out of her hands (he couldn’t as she’d literally curled up into a ball to try and protect herself from the blows raining down on her) At this point me and my mate intervened and I ended up punching the bloke with everything I had from a run (all 16 1/2 stone of me) and it barely slowed him down,he just stumbled and kept running as I lost my balance and sprawled out on the pavement.
As a result of this low-life’s action my mate’s girlfriend suffered a dislocated shoulder, various cuts and grazes on her arms and legs in addition to a nasty gash where her forehead hit the pavement. The physical injuries aside, she suffered from flashbacks and nightmares for month’s afterwards, and to this day she’ll only go out at night with a big crowd, and will absolutely not go anywhere on her own.
It’s disgusting and somehow dispiriting that people can bring themselves prey on one another like that, but if I ever caught up with the guy,he’s a dead man 😡

The cops. As in Hawaii 5-0 😉
By: A330-300 - 2nd February 2006 at 18:28
The 5-0 are obliged to stop anyone they suspect of carrying anything – but then I suppose if you don’t dress like a chav you could get away with it! :diablo:
(I’m not condoning carrying weapons here, of course!!)
What on earth is 5-0?

^^^^ Quite right. I agree……………cut the b******s hands off. I think the Nazi’s actually had the right idea for dealing with these lowlives but even that would be too pleasent for them 😡

This kinda of petty crime annoys me the most…
My brother was mugged a couple of years back, whilst on his way back to a mates house. He had just come from his school’s certificate evening, where he had been awarded a certificate for good work…
He was punched in the face, resulting in a broken nose. Had his glasses, wallet and mobile phone stolen. What kind of cruel b*****ds steal someone’s glasses for god sake.
We did get the police involved, but their response was “it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack!”, so eventually we decided to drop the case, but my everyone in my family was deeply affected and I myself and now very careful when I am out and about. I dont carry any money with me if I can help it, and only my phone for emergencies.
I think they should bring back proper punishments for thieves…cut their hands off!

I saw the news article about the landlord – what posesses these kids?
I feel so lucky it is quiet around me…
You’re right………….we shouldn’t waste a perfectly good bullet on those lowlives.
Hang the ******s instead 😡 😡 😡 Mark 😡
These kids think that the entire world owes them something. I don’t owe them jack ******* ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve been mugged a few times overe the years, also been stabbed in the arm once when I was around 17 and locking up a shop I then worked in.
Most of these attacks (about 3 in total) happened when I was younger and less able to defend myself either from the mugging itself or the shock of it all. Yes it’s shocking and can induce levels of anxiety and even mild depression in the victim, but you need to realise these events are generally random and not personal. You have to consider that you are still alive and well and have simply been unlucky.
You should report the matter, they do get caught sometimes and it’s worth letting the authorities know, just in case the swines think about doing it again on the same patch.
I was recently approached (a month or so ago) whilst walking home from the pub with my prized portion of deep fried takeaway, by a pair of young neds/chavs. One of whom crossed the road to walk the other side whilst the other one proceeded to “chat me up”.
Being aware of the agenda and the fact I am now a thirty something, six foot something and not afraid to strike back, I told the little sh*t to cross the road if he knew what was good for him. Unfortunately I allowed him the luxury of gaining the first blow as a wiry little fist attempted to connect with my face and grab my bag of grub.
To cut a long story short he got away with the food, but I hope he had a blender or liquidiser in his hovel, because otherwise he must have looked pretty funny trying to eat it with NO *********G TEETH !!!

Never been mugged fortunately.
Does anyone carry any self defence weapons?

I’d put them up against a brick wall and shoot the lot of them……………..but that’s just me 😀 😀 😀 Mark 😀

The newspapers here are running a story about two fourteen year old girls that killed and robbed a taxi driver for a handful of dollars!!
There was a story in the paper the other day about a bunch of kids, fourteen years old or so at the time, that beat up (and eventually killed) a pub manager – for a laugh.
I used to get a lot of grief from some of the little ********s that live around my way – they still do bug me from time to time, but less so after I pursued one of them, Lethal Weapon-style, down the middle of the main road, in and out of cars, in the snow and ice. Didn’t catch him, but he didn’t open his hole to me again….
