Schiphol, april 24th

A belated review of my last trip to Schiphol, already almost a month ago. Seems that time flies more then planes these days! 😉

I started the day at a rather new spot. The crashgate overlooking the taxiway to the Polderbaan is already well known. The disadvantage however is that you face the sun until noon. Since recently (?) the sliproad into one of the farmfields has been concreted, so you can park your car there. Not sure if you are actually allowed to do so, chances are it is the farmer’s private property, but none of us (3 or 4 carloads) where bothered.

The only problem is heathaze. And it is a mayor problem, as roughly 75% of the photos shot there had to be binned.

Moving on to the final approach to the Kaagbaan.

Those winglets are huge!

And finishing at the western side of the Polderbaan somewhere half way down the bicycle path. At first the runway was used for landings, but later on the runway was switched to outbounds.

I was rather surprised to see that DHL still had planes flying around in old livery. Not that I mind, cause in my opinion this looks more professional then the Fisher-Price yellow. Just don’t tell the boss I said so.

Another shot of Delta’s winglets.

I ended the day with 173 planes in the log. And STILL I have yet to get my first picture of the KLM Skyteam logojet! That thing seems to be avoiding me!

Nice photos, Peter, thanks for sharing. I take it the weather wasn’t bad enough to warrant umbrellas? 😀

Fortunately no umbrella was needed, somehow last time I needed it my umbrella was broken by someone who shall remain anonymous. I still have not got a new one. 😀
