Randy Cunningham pleads guilty, resigns

Vietnam War US Navy fighter ace Randy Cunningham has plead guilty to tax evasion and bribary charges. He has resigned from the US House of Representatives. He got his third, fourth and fifth kills on one mission flown on 10 May, 1972. His F-4J was shot down that day by an SA-2 missile before he returned to his ship, the USS Constellation.
I must say, its a disappointment to see his career end this way. 🙁

“‘Duke’ Cunningham Sentenced To Eight Years For Bribery”

Sat, 04 Mar ’06

Led From Courtroom… To A Waiting Jail Cell

“You’ve undermined the opportunity [that] honest politicians have to do good.” It was with that damning statement that US District Court Judge Larry A. Burns ordered Randall “Duke” Cunningham — war hero, “Top Gun” instructor and, most recently, disgraced former US congressman — to eight years and four months in a federal prison for bribery.

He was a good pilot..Infact a true top gunner..However what does that have to do with him being a top politician…If indeed being a top politician and being a top gunner would have been the same then he would have definately not left any paper trail of the money…Bad Bad politician!! 😀

There goes a legend! I wish he would have thought twice before going through with what he did but money certainly has a funny way of warping your train of thought. 🙁
