I am appalled by degree and the extent of damage done by the storm. I am also saddened by the volume of the attacks on the Federal government and GWB by those at the state and municipal level (who obviously were and are in charge of disaster relief plans, their execution and therefore the successes and failures) and all the others who choose to say with absolute certainty that GWB is responsible.

The need to blame seems to be the priority of the press, the Democrats, the black racist industry, and the usual Hollywood moonbats. Unfortunately some of the foreign media, individuals and even governments are using this sad event as another opportunity to mock the U.S.

I can’t supply precise info on Canadian aid to the U.S. but while there may be a small team of urban rescue personnel from the city of Vancouver, I do not believe the RCMP is involved in any such door to door recon as you suggest. I guess the important point is that there is a small number of such personnel as well as Canadian Red Cross teams are on the ground doing what they can.

The 4 ship Canadian Naval formation is delayed at sea due to new Atlantic storms and it will probably be days yet before it can offer any significant aid. Again there are claims that two Canadian ships are held up because the U.S. hasn’t decided where they should go. Sounds like BS to me.

It disturbs me to say this but there are those Canadians who question whether we should offer aid because of trade disputes. On the other hand there are many more who are simply saddened and who are not interested in the politics of the blame game and are heartened to see that the casualties seem realitively few so far.
